There was no use in running, as the wolf would be able to catch me easily. I may have the advantage of being smaller and faster, but this particular wolf was obviously a lycanthrope, and would trail my scent even if I were out of sight.

With my ears flattened against my head in annoyance, I bared my teeth at him before trotting off. There was no mistaking this wolf as the blonde stranger, as the eyes were unique.

We spent a while jogging through the forest at a steady pace, and I could hear the stranger’s paws behind me, trampling on the dirt. I tried my best to put the noise out of my mind.

Mentally, I was rejoicing. I hadn’t been in my wolf form since… well, since I had been with Kyle. The thought of him had me remembering other memories centering around the attractive, mysterious man, and a feeling of longing and worry plagued me.

My senses were alive. I could see the tiny hairs that bordered the stems of flowers around us, and the small insects that crawled up their lengths. My nose could pick up the aroma of earthy forest around us, and soon my mouth was watering at the scent of game. I slowed my steps as we came closer to the smell, and I lowered to a crawl, with my fur brushing the greenery around us. The wolf next to me did the same, but with a sort of practiced ease. He focused in on the large rabbit at the same time as I did, and it felt like a competition.

He lifted a silver paw and placed it back down on the soft earth, inching closer to the unsuspecting victim. No way was he stealing what I had smelled first! With determination, I crawled soundlessly but quickly forward, my jaws within leaping distance of the prey. It was still oblivious, sniffing away at a few sprouts in the ground. It was small and brown, with black, beady eyes that looked around nervously; perhaps it had caught my scent.

Opening my mouth and displaying my canines in anticipation, I tensed my muscles and readied to pounce. My body was in mid-air when the silver wolf snatched my target, quickly snagging it with his teeth and pulling it out of my range. I growled in anger, and tackled him to the ground.

The wolf yipped in annoyance, and accidentally let go of the rabbit, which sped away in fright. Shoving off the hulk of fur, I launched after the prey with my nose to the ground. The smell of wild game was easy to follow, and it moved erratically in winds, leading to a small tuft of brown fur that bounded in front of me. Before I could lunge forward however, I felt teeth grip onto the back of my pelt, and I was yanked backwards painfully. Howling in pain, I raked my claws over the back leg of the silver wolf as he tried to get ahead of me. He spun round and snarled at me, baring his sharp white teeth.

The rabbit was forgotten, probably too far away to catch now anyway. Lunging up from my lower position, I bit into the silver wolf’s ear and dragged him down. Skillfully, he twisted out of my grip and rammed his body into me, causing me to topple to the ground. In seconds, he was holding me down with his body weight and growling in my face.

Well, that didn’t work as I had intended.

The stranger holding me down shifted above me, morphing back into a blonde haired man, a blonde haired and naked man. I averted my eyes and huffed, showing my irritation.

“Huff all you want, but I still beat you,” he smirked, his yellow wolf eyes boring into my face. Even in human form he seemed to be able to restrain me. His strength was abnormal, and I struggled to no avail. His muscled arms were outstretched and pinning me down, and I eyed them, considering taking out a chunk of flesh to escape.

“Don’t even try it,” he warned, noticing my glance.

I rolled me eyes in response and he laughed.
