"Wait!" Zayn says as he reaches me. He's out of his breath.

"What do you want?" I ask and look at his eyes. That's what's different about him! I can swear that his eyes were green yesterday.

"What's with that bad attitude?" he asks with innocent face. What? He's joking, right? I mean, he's the one with bad attitude, not me. He yells at me for nothing, and I have a bad attitude? Yeah, right...

"Excuse me? I don't have a bad attitude." I say defensively. I'm confused. "So, what do you want?" I ask with some annoyance in my voice.

"Well, you seem pretty rough to me." he says ignoring my question. This guy is really annoying. I'll be late for class if he doesn't leave soon.

"Do you need something?" I ask again. "I'll be late for class, tell me what you want." I say when he doesn't respond. What's wrong with this guy?

"Don't you worry about that, we have history together. We won't be late." he says and gestures toward stairs. We walk toward history classroom (It turns out that history classroom is on the second floor, not third as I thought.) in silence. How the hell did I end up with him, anyway? I thought he doesn't like me, why did he come to me? This is so confusing.

"Here we are." he says at the same time as the bell rings. We enter the classroom and there's only one desk remaining. I seat down and he seats next to me. Teacher is late, I wonder why. "Our history teacher is always late. He's into politics or something." he explains my thoughts.

"Mhm." I say. This is so awkward. I look at the classroom searching for some familiar face. I see Chad sitting in the front row and that plastic girl from math class sitting behind him.

"Good afternoon class, sorry I'm late." our history teacher enters the classroom and everybody's silent at once. "Let's start. Today we'll discuss about..." he starts teaching and I can barely hear him. I'm so tired and sleepy.

"Hey, wake up." Zayn whispers to me and shoves me to my arm. "It'll be over in five minutes." he informs me.

"I'm not sleeping." I whisper to him. "I was just thinking."

"And what were you thinking about?" he asks me quietly. I was just attempting to say 'It's none of your business' when our teacher speaks.

"Mr. Malik, is there something that you and your friend want to share with us?" professor asks him and I wince. Everybody is looking at us. Oh, fuck.

"No, sorry sir." he says calmly. Teacher continues and the bell rings a few minutes later. I stand up quickly and take my books. I rush toward the door, but someone grabs my hand.

"Hey, what's the hurry?" Zayn asks. I tear my hand away from his grip. "Why are you running away from me? Did I do something wrong?" he asks. Is he being stupid or what?

"I'm not, I just don't want to be late for class." I lie. I can say I'm a pretty good liar.

"We have ten minutes to go to the next class." he points out.

"I want to see Jake before the class." I respond. "Why do you even care?" I ask. Really, why does he? I mean, he wanted to kill me yesterday for breaking his nose, and today he's accompanying me to the class. It's really weird and confusing.

"You are right. I don't, actually." he says and leaves down the hall. Okay, that's weird. What's wrong with him?

I walk down the hall toward English classroom. I hope I remember where it is. I reach the classroom in the last minute and the only empty seat is next to Zayns'. I seat down next to him and the teacher starts teaching. I can feel his eyes on me.

"I'm sorry, Beth. I didn't mean to be so mean to you." he whispers to me. Okay, he's crazy. He's really moody. Yesterday, he was mean to me, then he's mean to me again, and then he's trying to be nice to me. I don't get it.

"Beth is for friends only." I whisper back. Something flashes in his eyes for a second. I don't know what that was, surprise maybe?

"You don't consider me a friend?" he whispers his question. Of course I don't. Why would I? He threatened me and Jake yesterday, he said he'll beat Jake's ass. Is that what friends do here? If it is, I don't like it.

"No, I don't. Why would I?" I answer him quietly. I look ar our professor and he is too rapturous talking about some poem to notice our conversation.

"Well, Elizabeh..." he emphasizes my name. I hate my name, it's so old and boring. I think my great-grandmother's name was Elizabetha. I swore to myself that I'll change it when I turn eighteen. "Why can't we try to be friends?" he asks. Actualy, I don't know. I thought he doesn't want to be my friend after I broke his nose and his rush reaction.

"Well, I didn't have said that." I respond and I think I saw a smile on his face. The bell rings and I stand up collecting my books. We have a break now, I'll go see Jake. I think we have next class together. I walk out of the classroom and I hear footsteps behind me.

"Let me take that for you." he says and takes my books. "How are you going to spend this break?" he asks.

"I don't know, I think I'll go find Jake first." I say and reach for my books. He raises them so I can't grab them. "Give me my books!" I demand, but he rises them even higher.

"What you're going to do about it? Go and tell Jake?" he mocks me. What to hell is wrong with him? Is this his attempt to become my friend? If it is, it's not a good one.

"No, I won't!" I say louder than I intentioned. Actualy, I will. What else can I do?

"What else can you do, anyway?" he asks. I feel like he can read my mind. He looks at me with sneer on his face. Ugh! I want to slap him and make that smile dissapear. "So, Elizabeth, what are you going to do?" he asks me ironically. I don't say anything, I just turn on my heel and leave down the hall.
