Captain's Log
While surveying the Doctorov nebula, we came across an escape pod that, after later investigation in the hanger bay, contained a humanoid species that was not on any official record. After a brief misunderstanding, Spock managed to forge a telepathic link with her that in turn gave her the ability to learn our language. She managed to become almost fluent in under four hours. Her mental abilities must be assessed further. For the mean time she has been allocated quarters and she regularly helps out in engineering. Mr Scott is getting a run for his money as apparently she has increased efficiency in several sectors.
All we know is that she likes to be called Kiera and had escaped from a catastrophe that she is the only survivor.
