Kiera looks at the scraps of technology on the table. The salvage didn't look too good. If she could just get some of it working...
The door whistles. Her head flips round, as her senses were still alert. "Come in." She flops back into her chair, trying to combat the adrenalin cursing through her veins. She doesn't look up to see her visitor but instead carries on to ponder how she would put all the pieces together. "I didn't do anything... I just think that if its mine, I should be able to do what I want with it." Kiera looks up at the Captain. He drops into the chair opposite her silently seething in frustration. He sighs.
"I don't know what to do with you." She picks up one of the pieces and starts to finger the edges. It would be easier if I had my screwdriver... "Are you even listening to me?" She looks back up at the captain. "Report to Mr Scott in engineering at 0800." He gets up and leaves thinking that some work might do her some good.
Kiera walks into engineering at eight on the dot. She finds Scotty busy fiddling with the warp core. "Morning Mr Scott." He looks round and glances at his watch. She smiles. It takes quite a long time for people to get used to her punctuality.
"Ah, Kiera." He gets up and another engineer takes over. He starts to walk and she follows. "Right then, Kirk said that you volunteered to work here." He grabs his coffee and sits down.
"Yes, I thought I may be able to contribute my skills to help the running and efficiency of this ship." Scotty looks up at her and takes a sip.
"Oh really, I think you will be hard pressed to find something to improve." He looks around him, proud of his officers. She too follows his gaze but doesn't see why he was so impressed. "Help out where you see fit, but ask one of us first." He smiles and proceeds back towards the warp core.
"Where to start?" she mutters to herself as she looks around her.
