"I'm gonna hang out with you guys," May told Kai and Brandy, who were in front of the stairs to the boy's dorm rooms. Her roommates were too busy doing homework to do anything. She wanted to look for her friends, Kai and Brandy, and was lucky to find them before they disappeared.
They agreed to go to the game room to play a few games. May played foosball with Kai and she won, then played with Brandy and lost by a few points, which brought her down a bit. Kai and Brandy were next to play. Given the facts, Brandy stayed on his side because he claimed that it was his lucky side. Unfortunately for him, Kai won by more than Brandy would've liked.
They sat down on a table and looked out at the pool through the window. The pool was dark and blue. It seemed peaceful and relaxing. There were only two people there playing with a ball.
"So what do we do now?" Kai asked.
"Let's go to the pool!" exclaimed Brandy, but May and Kai disagreed.
"Let's go to the pool after dinner, we'll have two hours. Let's go outside now," May suggested.
"But I wanna go now!" protested Brandy.
"How about we'll go outside now, then we'll go to the pool after band rehearsal AND after dinner."
"But if we go now, we'll have more time in the pool."
"I want to go outside now," Kai stepped in. Brandy kept argued with both Kai and May. He seemed determined to convince them.
"Let's make a vote," May proposed. "Who wants to go outside now and go to the pool later?" May and Kai both put their hands up. "Sorry, bud, you've been overruled." May laughed at Brandy's whining little kid face.
On the way to the doors, the gang of three were stopped when May said that they needed to tell an adult. It was a rule set out by the chaperones, and given that May was a good kid, she just had to follow it.
"I'll go tell my mom, but first I'll get my sweater because I know my mom will want me to wear it." Once she had her sweater, she told her mom, one of the chaperones at the band camp. When she went to the front door, she noticed there were four more people that joined them.
"Let's go outside, I already told an adult," May told the group. She went outside without changing her shoes into boots. Matt, Jay, and Kai went ahead of her and Brandy. It was the end of January, with lots of frozen snow on the ground and with a frozen lake in the distance but still close enough that they could walk there in a few minutes. The three boys disappeared into the small white forest next to the park as soon as they left the building. Sophia, a trumpet player, was ahead too, but still in sight. The only person close enough to her to talk without yelling was Brandy. Being as silly as he was, he entered the park and started to break the frozen snow.
"This isn't snow anymore, it's ice," Brandy said while breaking it.
"So if you jump into the snow, you'll hurt yourself," May replied. Brandy was walking everywhere in the park, probably to explore. There was a little roof on a small bridge, and he had to duck to get to the other side through it. On the other hand, May could just walk normally without touching it.
"You make me feel so short," May whined. Brandy laughed and went to the other side through the glider. The snow was high enough that he had to crouch not to touch it with his feet. He seemed to be pushing his whole body up instead of just his legs. He passed it to May and told her to try to pass without touching the snow. May pushed herself to the other side, but bend her knees as high as possible instead. As soon as she landed on the other side, Brandy went to the monkey bars. May didn't have as much energy as Brandy, so she just got lazy and decided to just walked under them. On her third step, her right shoe got stuck in the snow and her feet were full of snow as well as her stranded shoe. She took her shoe with difficulty and sat down where there wasn't snow to wipe the snow off. She swore under her breath as Brandy laughed.
