Unnatural

I still managed to make it to class on time, and I was greeted at Mr. Jackson's door by Ben hugging me. I didn't see him. I could just tell it was him because his arms were muscular, and none of my four friends had the same amount of muscle as Ben- but he wasn't a body builder or anything like that.

"Hey, Ben." I said, grabbing his arms in a stupid attempt to hug him back without turning around.

"I haven't seen you in a while." he said as he let me go. "Where have you been?"

I turned to face him. "I was sick."

"So, I didn't miss an epic adventure?" It sounded more like a statement.

"No, you didn't miss an epic adventure."

"I had better not have,"

I smiled at him before I turned to take a seat, but before I did, I noticed someone in the far back corner by the window; someone I had never seen before. He had pale skin that almost looked white, shaggy, yet clean-cut hair that was blacker than black. He wore a black button-down shirt, a black tie, black slacks, black Oxfords, and beside his desk lay a black backpack with a large white skull on it. He looked a lot like a stereotypical modern vampire, but a little more on the gothic side, and he was watching a crow that was just sitting on the windowsill outside.

"Who is that kid?" I asked Ben without turning to face him.

"What ki- oh, him. I have no idea."

"Has anybody said anything to him?"

"I doubt it. Everybody at least a desk or two away from him moved to separate desks."

"Why?"

"I don't know. I guess they were afraid of him or something."

My curiosity got the best of me, and I found myself approaching him.

"Hi," I said, stopping at his desk. A chill ran down my spine, now that I was in close proximity to him.

He glanced at me briefly before looking back out the window, acknowledging my presence.

"Are you new here?" I immediately regretted asking such a stupid question.

He gave me a brief look that screamed "as if it weren't obvious."

"What's your name?" I smelled vanilla and roses on him.

"Jasik," His voice was cold, but not threatening, and smooth, but not exactly charming.

"That's a cool name. I'm Raven."

"What's your last name?"

"Black,"

He gave me a look. "Your name is Raven Black?"

I nodded.

"Interesting name," He looked back out the window.

I felt awkward now.

"You look like a Raven- minus the feathers and such." he said suddenly.

I was taken aback slightly, unsure of how I was supposed to respond to that.

"That's a compliment when it comes from me; I like ravens."

"Oh...well, thank you."

He nodded once, still not looking at me.

"So, where did you move from?"

"I moved from the darkest pits of Hell to the surface of the earth, and from there, I proceeded to colonize every city of every country with a deadly, incurable virus in my diabolical plan to eradicate to human race. This is my next stop." His tone and facial expression was completely serious.

I wasn't buying it. "Then why are you in school?"

"I'm still a teenager, so it's required that I go to school. Also, schools are great places to begin an outbreak, what with all the people who don't cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze, or wash their hands in general, then touch everything around them."

"Then why do you have a backpack with you?"

"I can't just carry around deadly viruses in my pocket, you know."

"So, how do you plan to infect someone in here?"

"Who's to say I haven't already begun the outbreak?"

"What does this virus do?"

"All you need to know is that it will kill its host within days."

"What's this virus called?"

"Diablo; it also dies once the host is deceased, and it can't survive in laboratory conditions."

"You sure seem to have thought this whole thing through."

"Nobody ever stays to talk about it after the whole 'I moved to the surface of the earth from Hell' response. Well, at least not the ones who actually have the courage to approach me."

"So, why did you continue to answer me?"

He looked at me. "You really thought I was just going to give up the act when you kept asking questions?"

This was the first time I had the chance to really see his eyes. His iris was golden yellow, and his limbal ring was pure black. They were strange and unnatural, yet beautiful.

"Is something wrong?" he asked.

"Your eyes,"

"What about them?"

I opened my mouth to say something, but the bell rang just before anything could come out.

"Alright, students, take your seats; class has begun." Mr. Jackson said.

"I'll talk to you later." I said.

Jasik simply nodded and directed his attention to the front of the class as I turned and headed back to my seat.

Jason was waiting for me at his desk beside mine with a smug look on his face.

I rolled my eyes at him and sat down as Mr. Jackson started talking to us about our lesson for today.

---------------------------------------------

By the end of the day, I found out that I had three classes with Jasik: Biology, History, and Art. Jason and Ben would not shut up about me talking to him. They acted like I had just talked to my crush for the first time, and it was because of them that I was so happy to get out of school as fast as I did. Although, Biology was the only class Jasik and I had talked in.

But something was off as I walked home, and I wasn't even in the woods yet. It wasn't the silence that has now been here for two days straight...it was the feeling that someone was following me. A few crows suddenly cawed, breaking the silence, and a somewhat familiar chill ran down my spine almost immediately after I started feeling like someone was following me. I tried to ignore it, but it just got stronger as the seconds passed by.  Finally, I turned around and saw a relatively familiar figure walking just a few paces behind me.

I stopped walking. "Jasik?" I asked, confused.
