I stared into his sea green orbs
Why doesn't anyone have eyes anymore? But seriously my story would go more like this if orbs were included:
He stared at my grey orbs which accidentally popped out because syke! They weren't actually eyes!
Not saying that it's unprofessional to write orbs, but apparently it's preferable to use it as an alternate to eyes.
