Chapter One: These Changes
"Alex," her mother screamed waking the girl up. She rubbed her eyes and sat up in bed.
"What do you want mom," she yelled back knowing she'll now get yelled by her father. "Don't talk to your mother like that."
There it was on cue, "Get your butt down here for school. Your not making your brother late again."
She sighed and fell back into her pillows, they were still wet from the tears she cried hours ago at three in the morning.
Once her mom screamed again she got up off her bed and dragged her feet to her closet.
Alex pulled out a white t-shirt that said, "Basic Just Won't Do," in black bold letters, and a pair of Holister jeans.
She paired her white converse with it and threw her hair into a messy bun.
"Alex you better be down here in the next thirty seconds or I'm leaving with out you," she heard her mom yell.
Alex just ignored them like she should until she was eighteen which was in three days. She already had a plan.
She was going to run away, and never come back, she would only go to school and not tell anyone where she was going.
"It's about time you showed up. I'm going to be late," Jacob whined fixing his hair.
"I'd shut your ass up- I'm not in the mood," Alex hissed towards him while grabbing a piece of toast.
"I'd watch you mouth now let's go," their mother cut in before anyone said anything else.
Alex sighed while rolling her eyes and walked out the car- but not before meeting a pair of green eyes.
"Who are you?" She asked but the boy just smirked at her.
"Who the hell are you?" Alex asked again but he was gone. "God Casey dies, I lose Grant and I'm losing my mind."
"You got that damn right. Expect I think you lost it before, they left you. I mean look at you- you're always a mess."
Alex glared at her brother, "I'd watch what you say about me or Casey unless you want to be spine-less."
"I'm so scared I'm trembling in my shoes," he faked shooting her a smirk while climbing into the front seat.
"I would be dear brother because you taught me everything I know. But I taught myself more, so I'd sleep with one eye open tonight," she whispered into his ear while their mom started the car.
Alex watched as Jacob showed a sign of fear, but it soon disappeared after a minute of thinking.
More likely about getting laid. "Now you two behave today, Parker is picking you up," their mother started while getting out.
"And Alex, if you get detention one more time this week, your out. Grounded for a month, and no visiting Hunter when he comes to town," she now knew her mom was serious.
Hunter was the only family member that actually cared for her and she couldn't let him down.
Hunter also happened to be Hunter Hayes the country singer that girls throw themselves at, but he only had eyes out for one- her. Alex knew the real him and he knew the real her.
That's why she couldn't let him down, "No promises," she answered with a smirk and headed towards hell.
"Hey Alex what's up?" a few of her friends asked while walking to her.
She faked a smile and said, "Walking to history, what about you Morgan."
Morgan was one of Alex's close friends but not as close as Casey, "Trying to talk to you. Look I get it, we all lost Casey but-"
