Chapter Seven: Quite a Common Fairy
Henry was laying in the dirt near a tree sound asleep when he heard a boy calling.
"Cuckoo," Pan screeched, "wake up, catch."
He threw an apple toward the boy who was now propping himself up with his hands.
"I don't like apples," Henry said looking down to the red fruit.
"Who doesn't like apples?" Pan asked stepping closer to the boy with curiosity laced through his face.
"It's a family thing."
Pan chuckled at the boy while lowering himself to his level, "Well, don't worry. They're not for eating. It's for a kind of game. A really fun game."
He had a devious look now, while he pointed a crossbow at the ten year old.
"I call it target practice." His eyebrow was raised while Henry's eyes widened with fear.
Pan walked away from the boy a smirk plastered over his face.
"She'll kill you, you know that right?" Felix asked with a grin of his own.
"Trust, me I'm well aware of that. That's why she's not going to find out right Jake?" Pan said looking to one of the youngest Lost Boys.
He nodded his head. "So know you're using the little boys against her."
"She can't help but help them."
Felix nodded walking away while another Lost Boy stepped up with a vile along with an arrow.
"What's that?" Henry asked watching Pan stick the arrow into the vile.
"Dreamshade," he then answered pulling it out, "it's a nasty poison."
He blew across the arrow drying the poison to the tip.
"We have a story here about a man," Pan stared grabbing the crossbow from the boys hand.
"Who once shot an apple off his son's head with an arrow. Let's find out if it's possible," he finished while fixing it into the bow.
"If you're shooting at the apple, what's the poison for?" Henry asked watching the demon boy aim the bow towards a tree.
"Motivation not to miss. Felix! Get over here!" Pan yelled for his right hand.
The boy stood up from the fire a piece of straw hanging from his lips.
He swung his club over his shoulder to rest on his right shoulder.
Felix took his time walking over to the boy.
"Is-- is Felix good?" Henry asked his voice cracking, "Is his aim good?"
"Doesn't matter," Pan replied his eyebrows furrowed the scared face boy standing to his left.
He looked to his best mate who had a giant smile.
Pan began to push the crossbow in Henry's direction, "You're the one doing the shooting."
"But I-I don't want to shoot."
The boy standing to the right of Pan tossed an apple to Felix, while the Lost Boys began to chant shoot.
Felix walked backwards, "You won't hit him."
Everyone else still chanting while Henry swung the crossbow around.
He watched Felix place the apple on his head.
"Trust yourself. Go on. It's exhilarating."
