One-Shot contest entry for Freakofnaturex

Wisteria ran after Aparri, begging him to stop and give her a chance to rest and catch her breath.
Wait a second, let me catch my breath
But Aparri didn't stop.
Remind me how it feels to hear your voice
He called back to her, but she couldn't hear him over the sound of the phantoms and the screaming.
Your lips are movin', I can't hear a thing
But she had to stop him. She had no choice.
Livin' life as if we had a choice
All around her in the streets of Jamaa, people were dying.
Anywhere, anytime
She wanted to help them. She would do anything to keep her fellow jammers safe.
I would do anything for you
But she had to stop Aparri before he got hurt too.
Anything for you
The day before, Aparri had confessed his love for her, and she had done the same.
Yesterday got away
He had sung her a song and she couldn't get it out of her head.
Melodies stuck inside your head
She slowly sang that song under her breath as she ran.
A song in every breath
And it went something like this:
Sing me to sleep now
Sing me to sleep
Oh just sing me to sleep now
Sing me to sleep
A few yards away, she saw a phantom above Aparri. She watched as it zapped him, his body electrocuting and suddenly falling limp. She stared in horror as he collapsed to the ground.
"APARRI!" She yelled, as she sped over to where he was laying.
She crouched down besides him, tears welling up in her eyes.
Remember me now, time cannot erase
"Wisteria...is that you...?" Aparri whispered.
I can hear your whispers in my mind
"Yes, it's me." Wisteria said, crouching down next to his burnt, charred body.
I've become what you cannot embrace
"Remember...my song...?" Aparri gasped.
Our memory will be my lullaby
Through tears, Wisteria nodded and started to sing softly:
Sing me to sleep now
Sing me to sleep
Won't you sing me to sleep now?
Sing me to sleep
Aparri sat up, using up all of his remaining energy. He put his hand to her cheek and looked into her crying eyes one last time.
Wisteria cringed as Aparri fell back down. Tears streaming down her face, she stared into his beautiful eyes.
"Oh Aparri," Wisteria sobbed. "Please don't go..."
"Wisteria...?"
"Yes?"
"I love you." Aparri whispered.
"I love you too," Wisteria choked out.
A-anytime
Wisteria watched in horror as the beloved Aparri breathed his last breath closed his eyes.
I would do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do
Wisteria screamed in sorrow and hatred at the broken world around her.
Time away
She had tried so hard, but she knew that nothing could have stopped the brave Aparri from trying to save innocent jammers from the evil Phantom King.
Yesterday-day-day-day-day
She remembered all the fun times they had had together, from swimming in Crystal Sands, to watching movies with Brady Barr.
A-anytime
But those precious moments had now become memories.
I would do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do
Through a waterfall of tears, Wisteria curled up and snuggled close to Aparri's lifeless body and cried herself to sleep.
Time away
"I love you."
"I love you too."
