I fell asleep and the next thing I know, I'm being woken up by an annoying beeping sound, people talking quietly, and someone sticking something into my arm.
What the hell! how did I end up here?!
"Oh Emily! You're alright!" Ryan said as he hugged me.
" What happened?" I asked frustratedly. Ryan blinked.
"You don't remember?
"We were in a car accident."
"Where's Cara? Is she ok?" I asked in a panic.
"She's fine. when we get out of here there is something she wants to talk to you about."
"If its about me running off the other day, then im sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
He looked confused.
"You ran away?"
I nodded.
"I was feeling overwhelmed and just booked it out of the house. You picked me up at the store."
"Oh, yeah. She hadn't said anything about you running. Just that you had gone for a walk and she was worried about you."
I blinked more and looked down.
The nurse walked in and examined me once more before telling Ryan we could leave as soon as he filled out some paperwork.
An hour later we were in a rental car driving home. I sat in the back seat, quiet as a mouse. I was exhausted. I couldn't remember why, though.
Later that night, I was sound asleep before the nightmare consumed me.
In my dream, all I could hear was a woman screaming and crying. A man was yelling, but his exact words were inaudible. A small figure, what seemed to be a girl, opened a door to reveal who I assumed to be her parents having an argument. The girl ran to the kitchen and got a knife. She ran behind her father's back. Then the scene changed. All I could see was green grass. A flower bloomed quickly, and the sun shone brightly. The little girl stood, smiling. In her hand she held something... sand? Then suddenly it blew away in the wind, leaving just her empty hand now clutching grass. She whipped around and ran, screaming, towards a house that was on fire. Then the dream ended.
