The last three days of my lunch with Shane went okay. Though he was still a bit annoying, I could handle it better now. After what he had done for me when we went to see the movies, I had confirmed that he wasn't as bad as how he wanted us to think.
"C, this is your last day. Can't you convince him to sit with us? I miss you already," Tanya whined.
Rolling my eyes at her, I closed my locker door shut, "Tan, I told him that. Let's just see if he shows up and drags me to the cafeteria.""You should've demanded for answers," she complained.
"He's Shane! Who am I to demand answers from him?"
Her eyes widened as though she saw a ghost. "That's the reason!" She pointed her pointer finger at me. "You call him by his first name. Nobody ever does."
My brows tied up in confusion. I never noticed no one called him Shane. Sure, I always hear them calling him Riley but I never thought not one actually called him by his first name.
"What does that have to do with it?"
"Because he allowed you to call him by his name means you're someone special."
My jaw dropped at that. How did one thing totally nonsensical led to something like this? I mean, just because I call him Shane meant I was already special to him? Where was the sense in that?
I chuckled and started walking away from her.
"You don't believe me do you?" She accused, when she caught up to me.
"No," I answered truthfully. "That's absurd. Don't even try to mention that again," I warned.
"No. Let's make a deal." I looked at her incredulously. "If he eats with us at the cafeteria, it means I'm right. If not, then okay, you win. Call?" She laid her hand in from of me, waiting for me go shake on it.
Without any hesitation, I grabbed her hand and shook it. "Call."
Tan gave me a victorious smirk as though she was certain she would win our bet. But we were betting on Shane, he was unpredictable, who would know what he would do?
I got out of the last class for my morning session and went straight to my locker. It was off that I Shane wasn't there. He was usually there leaning on the wall, with his hands on stuffed on his pockets, as he waited for me. He had been like that for the past six days, weekends excluded.
Once I finished putting all my things in my locker, I shut the door and locked it.
I decided to go to the cafeteria because Shane must have given me this day off.
My friends looked at me in utter surprise and confusion.
"What are you doing here?" Sophie asked.
"I'm gonna eat?" I responded, raising an eyebrow.
"I mean, why aren't you out with Riley?"
"He didn't pick me up. I guess it's rest day."
Sophie and Tanya looked at each other for a while before Tan leaned back on her seat.
"Does this mean I win, lil T?" I teased.
She just scowled at me and let out a huff of air.
I chuckled and nudged Chris beside me as he kept on twisting pasta on his fork and never really ate it. He looked up at me with a smirk, "I missed you, Chels."
I smiled and put an arm around his shoulders, "I did too."
Tan let out a muffled squeal and looked excitedly over my shoulder. I turned around with shock written all over my face.
