Your P.O.V

"Y/n! Wait up!" Quickly I wiped my tears away and turned almost bumping into Cypher.

"What do you want?" I snapped. Cypher took a step back putting his hands up defensively.

"Hey, Morpheus asked me to check up on you... How are you?" Clearing my throat I opened my door.

"I'm fine." Cypher tilted his head in disbelief.

"Really? You're fine? With those puffy cheeks, I don't think so. Look this isn't easy but it gets better."

"Does it really?"

".... Nope. I can't lie to y/n, it sucks, but don't tell anyone I told you that." I slowly nodded my head, he looked relived.

"So... You don't like being in the "real world" as Morpheus puts it?" He shook his head.

"I had a life in the matrix. Completely oblivious, innocent- that was until I met Morpheus. God I should've just taken the blue pill." Once again I was confused.

"Blue pill?" Cypher looked back at me and nodded.

"There are certain people that are called 'red pills' and 'blue pills'. Red pills are people that feel like somethings wrong with the world, some things just don't match up. Blue pills are those that go on with life without a second thought, its all normal everyday life."

"Okay. So what am I?" Cypher's eyes trailed down my body taking in my features, I shifted uncomfortably looking everywhere but at Cypher.

"You're... Different." My eyes snapped up to him. Different huh? Well he isn't wrong about that.

"Is that a good thing?" He smiled and nodded.

"It's a great thing. Well I don't know about you but I'm hungry. Wanna go get some food?"

"I'm not really hungry, I think I'll wallow in self pity, but thanks though." He began walking away and spun on his heel to face me again.

"Oh! I almost forgot. Don't tell anyone I told you I hate it here. ANYONE, okay?" He seemed a little scared.

"Uh, okay. I promise... But, why did you tell me?"

"Because I trust you." Smiling he turned the corner. I stood contemplating what he told me.

"He trusts me? He doesn't even know me! Whatever, what he believes isn't really my problem, besides he still creeps me out. Who looks at a person like that?! Weirdo!"

"Time to wallow." I closed my door and plopped face first on my bed, I closed my eyes and began to think of my family.

"Mom, Grandma O, Eric and Huey.... Daddy. I miss you so much." Tears began streaming down my face remembering my father. He always knew how to be positive even when it seemed impossible. Even in death he had a smile on his face. He was the best dad anyone could have, then after he died mom married that dick. Anthony. He made my  life miserable! Grandma O was the only person who could keep me sane, she always seemed to know how things were and how they were going to go. She was almost like a fortune teller, and the cookies she made, that'll put a smile on anyone's face.

Ggrruummmbble~

I huffed out a sigh as my stomach made itself aware, "Maybe I should get something to eat."

Sitting up and whipping my face the door opened with its loud squeak. Tank was standing in the doorway with a tray in his hand.

"Hi."

"... Hi..." Awkward much y/n.

"I uh brought you some food. Trinity said you weren't in the mess hall, sssooooo..." He held the tray out to me not wanting to come in.

"Thanks... You can come in you know." I took the tray and sat back in the bed. Tank didn't move from his spot. Rolling my eyes I turned to my food. If that's what you call food. What the hell is this stuff?! Tank began to chuckle at the face I made picking up a spoon full of.... Of... Whatever it is.

"This is so gross."

"It's the Dinner of Champions!" He said leaning against the door frame.

"Ha ha. Yeah... Okay." I closed my eyes and ate a mouth full of It.

"..... Ah! Yuck! It's like eating runny eggs with oatmeal!" I cringed as I swallowed. Placing the bowl down on the tray I looked back at Tank. There's that smile again. Sighing I picked up the bowl and began eating again.

"I thought you said  it was gross?"

"Oh don't worry it is, but I'm hungry so I'll suffer." Finally he took a step in my room, he seemed to be contemplating on whether he should close the door or not. I made the motion of closing the door, and he closed it rather reluctantly.

"You can sit down you know." Nodding he sat on the floor.

"I meant, you could sit on the bed. If you want. I mean you don't have to, if you don't want to." Shaking his head he sat across from me smiling, I began eating faster to hid the blush that was building on my cheeks.

"What happened?"

"Hmm, what?" I pointed at the bandage on his forehead.

"Oh that! Nothing really." Setting the bowl down I crossed my arms arching my brow.

"I can't catch a break. Okay, I was helping Apoc fix a transmission when I hit my head, it's not as bad as it seems."

"Okay." I went back to finishing my food and placed it on the tray, Tank held his hand out to take it. Getting up he made his way to the door.

"You're leaving?"

"Uh yeah. I told Morpheus that I'd be on the bridge." I looked at him and then at the tray.

"So basically, you lied?" Tank scoffed and said no. He totally  lied.

"I- I didn't lie! I get hungry too, you know."

"Uh huh, of course you do."

He put the tray on the sink, "Trinity said you didn't eat, and that someone should check on you."

"Mhmm. How would Trinity know if I ate or not when we haven't seen each other since the simulation?" He looked to the side.

"Uuuuhhh. Well- I mean- she-... I have to go." Turning around, he walked out the door.

"You forgot the tray!" Coming back in the room, he took the tray from my hands, not looking at me. I grabbed the back of his shirt, stopping him in his tracks.

"Why did I do that? Let him go, y/n!" My grip on his shirt tightened instead. Turning his head slightly to the right, I saw that he wasn't smiling anymore. I let go of his shirt, but he didn't move.

"What do I do?! What do I do!!? He's not moving, I think I broke him! Oh my god, I broke him! Why is he turning towards me? Don't walk to me, walk away!!! DAMMIT! Aaahhhh he put the tray back on the sink!!! DON'T LOOK AT MEEEE!!!!" By now my cheeks were bright red, I could feel the tears forming in my eyes due to holding my breath.

"Wanna come with me to the bridge?"

... What?

".... What? The bridge?"

"Yeah. I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to." He brought his hand up to my face, removing an eyelash from under my eye. He started playing with one of my curls, waiting my answer, but it's hard to think at this point.

"Surely he can see how red I am, and that playing with my hair isn't gonna help." I looked down at my boots and began messing with the hem of my sweater.

"Y/n."

"Gah! Why did his voice drop an octave?" Stopping what I was doing, I slowly looked up at him. His eyes were dark and almost looked cold, his smile was completely gone. He looked like a different person. He bit his bottom lip, turning his head away from me. Clearing his throat, he let my curl go and looked back at me.

"Maybe next time." I blinked at what he said.
