I'd to thank @isthishard for commenting on my prologue. I am dedicating this chapter to him/her.
I would also like to thank everyone who voted! It is really appreciated. It's barely been 24 hours! Thank you all so much!
Also, does anyone know how to actually dedicate a chapter on the mobile version app? Advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

Meifeng's POV (Third Person Limited)

Meifeng didn't know what to expect when she went into the Avatar State. She wasn't exactly in her right mind when she went into it. It felt like she was being influenced by one of the teas the Monks used to communicate with the spirit world.

The first thing she saw – which she didn't expect to see anything, she was in a ball of dirt, after all – was a sphere of ice. There were two barely visible silhouettes. She somehow knew that the two were here brother and Appa. Aang's tattoos were glowing, signifying that he was in the Avatar State as well.

Meifeng was pulled away from her brother – something was tugging on her soul – and she saw the Southern Air Temple. The Fire Nation soldiers were trying to get into the statue room, but they couldn't figure out the lock. Wow. Fire Nation Soldiers don't think, do they? The lock is too complicated for a key, you need bending! She thought.

Meifeng walked around the temple. She knew everyone must have been defeated, but she wanted to see for herself. When she finally did come across them, Meifeng let out a cry of despair. Gyatso's head shot up; he had always been more in tune with the spirit world than others, but even to him, it must have just sounded like a whimper. Meifeng knew Gyatso – her father figure – couldn't see her, but maybe he felt her presence.

All of the airbenders had their hands and feet bound in chains and clad in metal. Every staff, every toy and personal belonging was being thrown into a gigantic bonfire in the middle of the communal court. For a moment, Meifeng panicked, thinking that her staff, which helped her control her bending, had been thrown in with the others, but managed to recall a fuzzy memory of Gyatso handing Meifeng her staff when she entered the secret hallway. She calmed herself and realized that the Fire Nation Soldiers were leading everyone into large war machines that looked like some sort of bus or maybe one of the trains she'd seen at Ba Sing Se. The men weren't just taking airbenders though. They were taking everyone.

Meifeng followed the Air Nomads, to at least provide some comfort for Gyatso – she wanted him to know that she'd be there for him until the bitter end. As soon as the "bus" reached the water, the prisoners were marched onto large ships; Meifeng following them. It took them several days to reach the Fire Nation, during which, Meifeng learned that she could not bend, but she did not need to eat, drink or sleep, though she could go into a sort of "hibernation" state, to pass the time by more quickly.

Right before he was executed, Meifeng tried to talk to Gyatso.

They were being kept in small, wooden cells. Meifeng was going from person to person, trying to comfort them. She hoped that if she touched them, they would be able to sense her presence. She stopped by Gyatso's cell last. He was the only one alone. Apparently, the Fire Nation knew he was close to Meifeng and Aang, and so tried to interrogate him. Right before the warden came down the hall to open the cells of the prisoners, Meifeng spoke.

"Gyatso." Footsteps in the distance came their way. "Don't go! You-you're the closest thing I have to a father! Please! Don't leave me! Don't leave Aang and I alone! I love you! Plea-ease!" Meifeng descended into sobbing by the end of her sentence.

Gyatso looked at Meifeng, even though he couldn't see her. "Feng. I don't know if you can hear me, but I need to say this." The footsteps were nearly to his cell. "I love you. I love you and Aang as if you were my own children. Never forget that. I gave up any chance to have children when I became a monk, but you have shown me that I shouldn't have. I love you, daughter. Tell Aang I love him too." Gyatso didn't cry like Meifeng had. He just turned his head, but Meifeng still saw the lone tear that made its way down his weathered cheek and into his white beard, staining it a dark gray. A moment later, the warden unlocked his cell. "Get up." He gruffly ordered.

Meifeng followed her people outside, where she saw pile of wood, and several poles on the top. The Air Nomads were chained to the poles and a fire was started. Even though she couldn't physically touch him, Meifeng hugged Gyatso until he could not feel her anymore.

Meifeng was in shock for several days, but she managed to see the most important details. Sozin ordered his soldiers to take Gyatso's body back to the Temple. She wasn't sure, but she thought she heard him say that they would use it to lure the avatar and trigger his avatar state, and then kill him, breaking the cycle and making sure that the Fire Nation stayed in power.

After that, everything sped up for Meifeng. The hundred years passed in a hundred days for her, but towards the end, time slowed again. She saw many things, most were masters teaching students to use a certain element or weapon. She saw General Iroh's siege on Ba Sing Se. She saw Lu Ten fall, and then it sped up again. The next time it slowed again, Meifeng was in the Firelord's war room. She saw a young man, the prince, from where he sat, speak out against the plans the generals' and the Firelord's plan. Zuko, she learned his name, was challenged to an Agni Kai, a duel. She saw Zuko burned and banished. And she heard when it would take for Zuko to be accepted into his father's home. Time sped back up after that.

The last time everything slowed was when her brother was found the waterbender and her brother. Time never sped back up. She saw Zuko try and capture her brother, and she saw Aang go into the Avatar State to defeat him. Meifeng watched as Aang, Katara – that was the waterbender's name – and Sokka – Katara's brother – explored the Southern air Temple. As soon as the three entered the room, Meifeng was pulled out of the Avatar State. She quickly jumped up to one of the upper levels of the room and watched as the trio explored. When she looked down, something blocked her vision. Hair, she realized, I have hair!

Meifeng had shaved her head every day after getting her tattoos. She didn't care if it made her look like a boy, she didn't want to cover them up. Female airbenders were rare, the only other one alive when she was born was Xia, who was nearly four generations older than her. Considering it had been a hundred years since Meifeng shaved, she was surprised it wasn't longer. The dark brown locks reached her thighs when she stood up. Meifeng looked at her clothes and arms. I need to clean up, she thought to herself.

Meifeng started paying attention in time to hear Sokka say "Dinner!"

Aang replied with "Not if I catch him first!" And the two boys took off chasing, after a close inspection, a flying lemur-monkey. It was a moment before Meifeng followed them, sensing that it was not the right time to reveal herself. She sensed Aang going into the Avatar State and nearly had a panic attack, but by the time she got to him, Katara had calmed him.

Not wanting to be noticed, Meifeng hopped behind some rocks.

Meifeng followed Aang, Katara and Sokka everywhere. She nearly had a heart attack when Aang was nearly killed by the monster – the Unagi - on Kyoshi Island.
