Can I ask you a question?
What is pain to you?
That's not something we get asked everyday. Maybe 'What is love to you?' or 'What is happiness to you?', but not pain. Never pain.
Pain is the dull thudding of your heart as it quickens in anticipation of the consequences of your reckless actions.
Pain is the tears that stain your face and turn your eyes puffy and red when you realise all your efforts have gone down the drain. Unappreciated.
It's the shaking of your shoulders as you try to conceal the fact that you're having a breakdown. Try to hide the fact that you're not okay.
It's the spinning of your head when you can't stop panicking before it's too late. Before you lose everything.
Pain is the tearing of your very soul when you see the disappointment ghosting their face but they smile at you anyway so that you don't feel their pain.
But you do. You feel it. You feel it thrumming through your bones.
And you so turn the tables on the cunning prince that is pain. Hold him captive. Use him to your advantage. Enervate him of his energy to motivate you. Fuel you.
Pain helps you. He decides to cooperate. And instead of working against, you work with him.
Pain can be many things for many people. Physical, mental, emotional. He can make us stronger. Take us down. Or not affect us all.
And though we may not admit it, we are all a sucker for pain.

{A/N: Wow my writing's gotten pretty moody and sad. Blame it on school. I wrote this while I was listening to Sucker For Pain. It's part of the Suicide Squad soundtrack. The song is brilliant.
Are you a sucker for pain? I might be, but only if it makes me stronger and helps me overcome my obstacles.
Now I think it's high time I listen to some upbeat songs. Any recommendations?}
