Light me up (A Leo Valdez story)

"How can you prevent something like that?" I asked .

"Just trust me, okay? One prophecy said that Percy would drown but obviously that didn't happen." He said.

"He's the son of Poseidon how was he supposed to drown?" I asked confused.

Leo laughed. "That's what I said too." He was looking at me now like I was the most amazing girl he had ever seen. "Trust me?"

"Of course I trust you." I said back. I started to walk around again, still letting my fingers glide over the machines in front of me. "What is all this." Spinning around gesturing to all the stuff.

I made eye contact with Leo again. He looked dumbfounded. "Did I say something wrong?" I asked him now concerned.

"No! Definitely not. It's just... No girl I've ever flirted with has  talked to me this long, let alone be interested in my stuff." He responded running his fingers through his curls.

"This is your stuff?" I questioned. "Wait a second... You're flirting with me?"

He smirked, "of course it's my stuff. And yes, yes I am. I mean I know a girl like you would never like a guy like me, but I can dream can't I?" He said with a chuckle.

"Who said I would never like you?" I asked.

"You're too pretty. You could get any guy you wanted. Everyone says you would never date a guy like me." He shrugged putting his hands in his pockets.

I walked up to him till we were as close as we could be without touching. I was looking up at him and him down at me. "Don't listen to what everyone else says Leo." I said.

His breaths were shallow as he looked down at me. He smirked and I melted.

Then I took the biggest chance I had taken all night. I stepped up on my tiptoes and let me lips barely brush against his. Then I turned and walked to the door. I pushed it open then turned back, "No one here knows me Valdez." I said turning and leaving.

The door shut behind me and I leaned against it brushing my fingers over my lips. "Hey what are you doing all the way out here?" I looked up to see Percy, "I was worried about you."

I shrugged quickly moving my hand from my mouth. I walked to Percy and heard the door of the bunker open. "Ava wait!"

Percy and I both turned and Leo noticed Percy there. "I.. Uh.. Never mind. I'll catch you later." He said stumbling through his words. I noticed his hand touch his lips real quick as he turned around.

Percy and I started walking away again, "what was that about?" He questioned me.

"Oh nothing" I said touching my lips again and blushing.

"Uh huh sure it wasn't." Percy said smiling at me.
