Matt's POV

I looked out the window, it had begun pouring outside again, so me and Hayley where inside.

I baked brownies while she watched spongebob.

Suddenly I heard a voice call from my left.

It sounded like...Luke's voice?

Matt? Mattttt? Matttty? I know you can hear me.

The voice? It came from the trash can.

I walked towards it, seeing the bits and pieces of paper.

Matthew, Matthew, Matthew. I can't believe what you have did all those years.

Hiding all those letters I sent to Janet.

We all know what you said to me the day of the wedding, because it changed Janet's future forever.

"I didn't do it! You're the one chose to leave!" I whisper shouted.

Matthew, you're the one who told me she didn't want me anymore. That she was going to leave me for my money. We all know that letter you showed me, that you said "she had written" was all a lie. She did love me, and you love her. But you couldn't stand it, because of your silly obsession.

"Shut it, she loves me!"

Luke's voice laughed.

Oh Matt when she sees me again, you know she won't be able to get her hands off me.

What's to stop me from taking Hayley away from you too? Hm? We all know she we so close to discovering the truth from you. She had been playing in your room when her ball went into your closet, and she saw the old shoe box with envelope, after envelope. Asking, pleading for forgiveness. That I didn't care if what she wanted was money, that all I wanted was to be with her.

Nope, you just kept the notes and sent one saying that she had moved on, and didn't need or want me anymore.

Once Hayley, oh my smart beautiful little girl, once she caught a glimpse of her mother's name opened the box and saw the first letter she grabbed it.

We both know she's a little bit too young to read, so she was going to show it to her mother, where the truth would have been discovered.

Then you would become the nobody she'd hate. Taking years of happiness from her life. A father to her daughter. And dreams from her grasp.

"I SAID SHUT UP!" I yelled, grabbing the trash bin, opening the window, and flinging it away from my sight as I heard his laughter drone away.

"Daddy? Are you okay?" Hayley asked.

I calmed down for her sake.

"Uh yeah Lili, it's just-" I began but was cut off with the oven alarm ringing.

"Ah the brownies are ready." I announced and she smiled ear to ear.

I put on an oven mitt, looking out the now shut window.
