She felt like death warmed over as she pulled into the church parking lot. Titus frowned at her as she climbed into the back seat.
"What have you been doing all day Ella?" He asked suspiciously.
"Not sleeping." She yawned. Quintus just raised his eyebrow as he leaned back towards her. "Are you well enough to mask the car tonight? I'm going to trust your honesty." She tried to smiled at him, but she could barely keep her eyes open. He nodded. "Good. Wake me up at some point so I can eat, otherwise, head towards Vancouver, British Columbia. I have no idea how we'll get across the border though. I don't have a passport." She frowned for a moment. "And I don't guess either of you do as well."
Quintus just smiled at her warmly. "Let me take care of that." She nodded, handed him the laptop, then curled up onto the backseat and passed out.
Her phone chiming brought her slowly back into consciousness. She looked around for a moment to orient herself before pulling it out of her pocket. It wasn't ringing. Someone had texted her. That was odd. She never got texts. She looked at it for a moment. Ben. Why would Ben be texting her? Quintus looked back at her. She shrugged her shoulders at him before reading it.
I need 2 talk 2 u privately. Call me here asap. Catalina.
She frowned and looked at the clock. 10:30pm.
"Can we stop to eat?" She asked through a yawn.
"Is everything alright?" Quintus asked, watching her as she slowly sat up and stuffed the phone back into her pocket. She rubbed at her eyes and yawned again.
"Yeah. I just think I should probably eat before it gets too much later." She could tell he wanted to know what was on her phone. But she also knew he wouldn't ask. She wasn't sure what to tell him anyway. Not at least until after she talked to Catalina.
"We are just outside of Seattle, Washington. I believe we should have no problem finding you a place to eat there." Titus commented. Obviously sharing something else with Quintus that she couldn't hear. She frowned at them both, but then turned to look out of the window.
He pulled into a large hotel that boasted an all night restaurant. She climbed out of the back seat as soon as the valet took the keys and instantly regretted only buying a jacket and not a coat. Even withthe heavy sweater she had on, it was freezing.
"Holy crap it's cold here." She commented through yet another yawn. Quintus chuckled and put his arm around her as they went inside. They got a table easily and she asked him to order her any kind of fish without garlic on it and a glass of milk while she excused herself to the restroom.
She punched in the numbers for Ben's phone and waited.
"Ella?"
"Catalina. What's going on?"
"I'm so glad you called me back so quickly. Listen. I've got to tell you this, and you have to keep it to yourself. It's very important that you do what I tell you. Alright?" The little girl's voice was odd sounding. As if she was reluctant to talk.
