CH2
You're at your school gate and immediately the aura around you thickens. It's so thick and unpleasant that you can't breath. If you consider your own room a prison then how would you describe this school? It's like one minute you were safe and the next you were under water... drowning. You'd try so hard to breath, try so hard to gasp and scream, try to cry out, but you couldn't and not because you're mute; but because you had no strength. Each time you walked in you mentally held your breath until you got out again. You felt this wasn't your place but for the sake of Jewel, you had to stay.
You're surrounded by people and their giggles. Giggles. Nothing but their giggles. There's nothing wrong with laughing- in fact you'd love nothing more than to laugh out loud carefree yourself- but when it's you people are laughing at and not because they love you then... well, it's annoying. A lot.
"It's mute girl". Some girl introduces to everyone as if the others were blind. They gather to each side of you and comment as you walk between them with your face transfixed to the floor.
You still didn't know how this had come to be- how you'd become their morning TV show, the hunted, and their prey. You had no clue until it was too late. This isn't how you used to be, before you'd never sip to this level of humiliation but then again- when you think of what you've done this wasn't close to enough. Like the nothing you are you dared be scared and selfishly you wished you'd live through this.
"The Mute? I think I'm going to be sick." another joins pretending to hurl. Each of their comments felt like a current.
You pictured your legs thrashing and yourself struggling hard against the horrific current. Your life was slowly drying out and your lungs were at their limit. Time was up... soon your heart would stop; soon you'd know death. You were in your second last year of high school so the battle was near its end....
...Yet a ray of hope-
Just hold on a little longer, all will be over soon. You'd say.
"Lame, how dare she come to our school. How humiliating" a classmate comments disgusted as she pushes you out of her way
"I'd rather die than ever be caught next to her" a boy spits as he watches you stubble on your feet. He laughs.
Again.... Annoying. You're not fazed though; so you continue on walking as if you see and hear nothing. Which was nothing new considering you'd been doing that ever since 'Jewel' died. You were a walking corpse after all.
You're near the entrance into the school building and stop. Something is off. A sudden bloom of heat crosses your face. You can feel them; you can feel beady eyes drilling to the back of your head staring with deadly accuracy. You can hear your pulse beating into your ears. You hear yourself exhale unsteadily. You don't move from the spot because you await his touch and soon you feel him swooping in behind you, his vicious hands poised as though ready to kill.
He comes closer, closer; you can feel his each step. Its as if everything around you is motionlessly silent and you're body is like a thrumming wing of a caged bird. He's always had this affect on you- for better or for worse.
Finally they wrap around you completely. You feel his head resting against your stiffened shoulder and as he takes a deep breath of relief his warm breath sends shivers down your spine.
At this point you've stopped breathing. No, really, you're holding your breath until he breaks you free. He walks in front of you and tilts your chin up to face him. Your gaze is swift which causes him to chuckle and embrace you once more. This time he's gentle. He seizes your waist closer to him. You can feel his desperation and determination but you're 'blind' so you pitifully give a small smile to yourself.
