Carter POV
*Date: April 30th 2015
-Stephanie Marie Sinclaire
Age: 17
Birth date: May 2nd, 1997
I looked over Stephs records on the clipboard the doctor handed to me.
"She only answered one question correctly... Her name." The doctor said looking between Mrs. Sinclaire and myself.
"She has something called Retrograde Amnesia, she can't remember the last two years of her life... Memory usually comes back with time but there are no guarantees especially considering the severity of her accident." My heart dropped into the pit of my stomach.
Steph wouldn't remember anything about me... Anything about all of her friends.
"I need to go for a walk or something..." I said leaving the hallway that Mrs. Sinclaire and the doctor were standing in.
I walked through the the many corridors eventually ending up in a random hallway. I rested my back against the wall allowing myself to slide down against it to the floor with my head against the wall and my eyes shut tightly.
"Hey dude I came as soon as I heard that she'd woken up..." I heard a familiar voice say to me.
I opened my eyes looking to Alex my best friend. Alex's eyes grew as they took in my appearance and he began to panic.
"What's wrong with her? Is she ok? Is she going to be ok?!" He questioned frantically.
"They're not sure what to think right now, she lost a lot of blood the night of the accident.... But there's something else." I whispered as Alex's eyes grow and he lowers himself against the wall next to me.
"She doesn't remember me; the doctors are going to explain to her now... and I'm straight up losing my mind seeing her like that."
Alex doesn't respond to my words but instead reaches his hand up to grab my shoulder comfortingly. We just sat there in silence for a few minutes collecting ourselves.
"I'll go back in with you if you want to see her again." Alex said to me as he nodded down the hallway motioning the direction of where her room was.
"No man, I just want to go home"
"You've been waiting here 5 days and as soon as she wakes up you want to leave?" Alex asked me raising his voice slightly aggravated.
"You don't get it Alex... she doesn't remember me, you should've seen the way she looked at me... Like I was some stranger. She's not going to remember you either... and to make things even worse the last thing she can remember is being with Ryan and Peyton, That's just perfect isn't it?" My voice begins to rise as I become more upset with the situation and stand up.
"She loved them Alex, you know how much they meant to her and she told the doctors that they are the last people she remembers being with! Who is gunna be the one to break that to her? HUH?"
I punched the wall as Alex rises from the ground coming to my side to stop me from causing any more damage to my knuckles or the wall.
"Ok, Cart we need to go for a walk. You need to calm down."
