"I've never had so much fun in my entire life," Auklet declared as Cliff walked her back to her room. "The music, the dancing, and all of the wonderful new dragons to meet."

"That's a SkyWing ball for you," Cliff boasted. "Have you never been to a ball before?"

"I've been to many balls, just not here," Auklet responded pertly.

"I'll add that to my list of things that I use to try to figure you out," Cliff chuckled.

"Your what?"

"I don't know who you are. I'm only aware of a few things about you. You say you've been to a ball, but not in the SkyWing kingdom. You don't know any SkyWings. You weave jewelry around your horns like the SeaWing princesses do. You wear pearls around your ankle."

Auklet blushed, looked down at the thin strand of pearls, and removed the crown, placing it into Cliff's talon. "Here, give this back to your mother."

"Keep it on, it looks lovely on you." Cliff gently placed it back atop Auklet's head.

"I've w-was hiding from the war, and when it was over, I went to Jade Mountain Academy for a while. The pearls were a gift from a Seawing friend, and Princess Anemone was kind enough to teach me how to wear them like she does." It was strange to call her sister by her formal title, but Cliff seemed to believe her.

"One more thing," Cliff said as they got to Auklet's room. "Do you know the name of the youngest SeaWing daughter?"

Auklet's heart stopped for a moment. "Why?"

"Because she saved my life. And I think I'm in love with her."
