Wednesday morning.
The middle of the week, I was awoken by my usual text.
Ben: Mornin'. See you at school. Xx
I smiled and buried my face back into my pillow. My naturally extremely curly hair had become a knotty, afro type mess as I snuggled into my duvet.
I stretched over exaggeratedly and pulled myself out of bed.
"Ni-cole," my sister, Aubrey shrieked through the house. My eyes widened at the scream as I opened my door.
She appeared into view with pink hair and an angry looking face.
"What?" I asked cocking my hip.
"Don't act like you didn't do this," she growled stepping closer to me with a brightly polished nail pointed at my face, making me go cross eyed.
"She didn't," my brother Louis said from behind her.
"You," she growled, spinning on her slipper covered heel and racing after him. His eyes widened in shock and he bolted down the stairs. I chased after them, hot on their heels. All three of us got to the island in the middle of the kitchen where my dad was sat reading the news paper. Aubrey picked up an egg and the jug of pancake mix.
"Kids, it's 7 am, put the weapons down," my dad warned, because in that time, Louis had picked up the whisk off the side.
"Apologise, now!" Aubrey demanded, narrowing her eyes and creating a shadow.
"Why?" Louis taunted.
"What's going o-" my mum started behind me.
"Shush," I silenced my eyes focused on my siblings. My mum rolled her eyes and did the button on her suit jacket at the same time.
"I said apologise," Aubrey yelled.
Louis just laughed. Aubrey took a step closer to Louis, making him edge further away from her, and closer to me. Within a quick motion, Aubrey took a few more steps and threw the pancake mixture and the egg. With Aubrey's few steps, came Louis steps. Within a second, my head was coated in the thick gooey liquid, flattening my curly hair. Just a second later, the egg smashes on my cheek.
"You bitch," I joke, pushing my flattened pancake hair out of my face.
"I'm so sorry," Aubrey said, covering her mouth with her hands. She rushed over to me and grabbed my unfortunately chubby cheeks and kissed all over my face. When she pulled away, her face was also covered.
"My kids are weirdos," my mum said drinking her coffee.
"So are mine," my dad joked.
I now needed a shower, so I ran up the stairs, turning on the hot water and climbing in, letting it wash the goo out of my hair.
After about 15 minutes, I got out and walked to my room in my towel and got myself dried and dressed for college.
I put on a pair of dark denim jeans, and matched it with a grey crop top that had a criss-cross pattern over my boobs.
I sat down in front of my mirror, and started to put my makeup on. I put on foundation and concealer, then did my contour and filled in my eyebrows. I did a grey smokey eye effect with a cat eye then I coated my lashes in mascara and blinked at the result. I quickly put on a dark red lipstick. It might seem like a lot of makeup, but Ben told me he thinks I look pretty all made up.
I dried my hair letting it return to its natural curly form and I fluffed it to make it have loads of volume. I then out half of it up and left the front two pieces down.
I then waltzed down the stairs and picked up my school back and rested it on my arm. At that moment my doorbell rang.
"Luke!" I squealed jumping into his arms. Although this guy was my best friend, I always found myself excited to see him. He looked so innocent always. He has no piercings, no tattoos, and he only really stuck to black skinny jeans and plain t-shirts and v necks.
"Nicole!" He mimicked kissing my hair in the hug.
He's like a brother to me.
"Bye dad," I shouted, as everyone else had already left the house.
"Bye darling," he called back.
I left through the door and walked to Luke's tatty old car. I pulled open the door, careful that it didn't fall off.
"Stop moving to much in my car, the wheels might fall off," Luke commented to me.
"No good when it comes to girls then," I said, laughing cheekily.
Luke gulped and laughed nervously, "yeah."
I didn't think much of it and put my feet up on his dash.
"Are you worried about seeing her?" Luke asked.
"Who? Demi?" I question putting my head against the window.
Demi was a girl Luke and I were best friends with. We'd been best friends for years, and to be fully honest she was never really a great friend, but I was blind. When Ben came along, she was jealous that she didn't have me to herself and she started treating me bad, so I decided to end the friendship. Now since she gets back from her holiday today, it will be the first time I see her since it happened.
"I'm not sure, I'm not scared of her, I'm just nervous of what she's capable of, because I've seen most of it before. She definitely capable of more," I say. I chewed my nail anxiously.
"Don't chew your nail, I know that's your sign of being nervous. I'm right here," Luke reminds me, wrapping his hand over mine.
We drove in silence, Luke's hand loosely settled on mine, until we reached college. I looked out of the window to see my boyfriend leaning against the pillar scrolling on his phone. He had his regular slightly quiffed messy hair, I always wanted to run my fingers through it. His nose held a black ring piercing through it, and his eyebrow had a bar through it. His ear held several earrings too, the one in his lobe being a dangly black feather. His neck and arms were covered in tattoos that ever since his 18th birthday he'd been getting consistently. He had a plain black t-shirt on with very dark denim jeans with a chain hanging from them, he also had on a tight leather jacket, that honestly I thought was so hot. He was so beautiful.
"Ben," I shouted walking over to him, Luke trailing slowly behind me. Although he was mid text, he tucked his phone away quickly wrapping his arm around me blocking Luke out. I looked behind me and give Luke warm eyes as he returned with a weak smile.
Sometimes I feel sorry for Luke and the way Ben leaves him out. Luke and I have been inseparable since we were 3 years old, and he's always my number one, but Ben and I have been together for 7 months now and I really love him. He always makes me feel beautiful and compliments my make-up, he shows me off and he makes time for me. I'm happy as of now.
"Hurry up blondie," Ben hurries, giving a condescending, cocky smirk to Luke. I pinch his side making him snap back to me and shrug his shoulders. Luke rolls his eyes and goes to walk in front of us.
"Hurry up you dick," Luke mutters under his breath, I can only just hear him.
"What was that?" Ben asked, having mistaken Luke.
"I didn't say anything mate," Luke defends giving a fake smile. I giggle sneakily at Luke's mischief.
I walk to my English Language class with my boys, prepared for a boring day ahead.
