One Last Promise

Chapter 3

  "Only a friend" I replied, taking a drink of beer.

   "Oh. I'm sorry about this."

   "It's fine..." I trailed off and looked around.

   "Is there anything else you want to tell me?" Austin asked.

   "I don't think so, and if there is, I can't think of anything right now."

   "You sure?"

   "Yes, I'm sure"

   "Come here" Austin leaned in and hugged me.

   "Awe. Thanks for being here for me"

   "No problem hun."

   "I really-" Before I could say anymore, my phone rang. I looked at it and saw who it was. I got excited because it was Michael.

  "Oh my god, it's Michael. One sec Austin" I said.

  "Hello?" I answered.

  "Baby, I love you" Michael said.

  "I love you too, but you have some explaining to do Mr."

  "Yes baby. I'm sorry, but I have a surprise for you girly"

  "A surprise, huh?"

  "Yup. I think you'll love it."

  "When will you be home?"

  "In about an hour baby"

  "Okay, I'll see you then babe"

  "Yes baby. I'll see you soon. I love you"

  "Love you too babe"

  "Bye girly"

  "Bye babe" I hung up the phone.

  "What's he say?" Austin asked.

  "That he'll be home in an hour, that he loves me, and has a surprise for me"

  "Oh. A surprise?"

  "Yeah. He said that I'll love it."

  "Cool"

  "He has some major explaining to do"

  "Yeah he does"

  "Ugh" I leaned back on the couch and stretched.

  "You want me to go?" Austin asked.

  "Only if you want to"

  "Well, do you need help with anything?"

  "Hmmm... Well I could use help cooking dinner, but you don't have to help if you don't want to."

  "Do you want me help?"

  "Only if you want to help"

  Austin chuckled. "Sure I'll stay and help"

  "Awe, thanks"

  "No problem, but what are you cooking?"

  "I think I'll cook some-" And then my phone started ringing and again, it was Michael.

  "One sec Austin" I said.

  "Hello?" I answered.

  "Baby, don't cook dinner"

  "Why?"

  "You'll see when I get home, okay?"

  "K babe, love you, and see you when you get home"

  "Love you too girly, see ya soon."

  "Bye babe"

  "Bye sweetie" I hung up.

  "What'd he say this time?" Austin asked.

  "To not cook dinner" I replied.

   "What? Why?"

  "He said I'll see when he gets home"

  "Oh, another surprise?"

  "Yeah" I chuckled.

  "Well, I guess I'll get going"

  "Awe, okay"

  "Bye hun, call me if you need anything, okay?"

  "I will. Bye Austin" I gave him a hug and walked him to the door.

  "See ya later!" Austin said.

  "Yup" I replied and closed the door.

  Two surprises in one day I thought to myself. I went over to the couch and laid on it. I grabbed the blanket from the back of the couch and the rest of my beer. I quickly drank it and put the empty bottle back on the table. I grabbed the remote and turned on Mountain Monsters.

  I didn't realize how tired I was until I laid my head on the pillow. I decided to close my eyes and rest. I guess I drifted off to sleep.

  "Baby... Baby wake up" I heard Michael say as I felt hands rubbing my back.
