Chapter 5--"Escapist"

Eddys POV

I just stared into the wolves eyes as yelling filled the air. I couldn't make out much of it but I did catch "That Demon took my son!" And "we have to find it" then it was all mumbles until I heard "Well set out in 3 days...to find my son and the demon" I sighed as the wolf now began to struggle pulling my 125 pounds of weight, but I couldn't walk. Eventually the sound of running water filled my ears. The wolf dragged me under a small rock cliff next to the water. I couldn't see very well since it was dark I sighed and I felt the wolf drop me he padded to the water and took his sweet time drinking. I pulled one of my water bottles out and took a sip. I then propped myself against the wall. I watched as the wolf padded into the corner of the overhang and layed down. I whispered "we sleppin here?" He looked at me then closed his eyes. "That's a yes" I sighed almost forgetting about my ankle until my adrenalin wore off, it hit me like a truck. I grunted holding my twisted and swollen ankle. I watched as the wolf stood up and sat next to me. He licked my wound then whined. I looked at him "I know you didn't mean it, you were scared" I said looking at him, he let out a huff and layed down. I grabbed another cloth from my backpack which sat beside me. I wrapped my ankle up then layed down. I'd forgotten a blanket so I was shivering in the cold. I then felt a warm body lay down next to me I smiled knowing it was the wolf he too shivered but we still huddled together.

Kodi's POV

He kept staring into my eyes I looked away swiftly scanning for danger. As my adrenaline wore off he became heavier, he weighed a little less then a young buck. I grunted as I continued to drag him. I heard water and I remembered this place. I took a turn so I was under a small rock ledge. I dropped him and padded to the creek taking a long drink. The boy seemed nervous, understandable, but he also looked happy. When I turned around he was propped himself against the rocky wall and was drinking from a clear container. I padded to the corner and plopped down. "We sleeping here?" The boy whispered I just looked at him. "That's a yes" I heard him grunt and I looked at him he was holding his ankle. I stood up "I did that....I hope he doesn't hurt me for it ...I-I was just scared." I stood up and padded to wear be sat and I sat next to him. I leaned down licking his swollen ankle. He looked at me with compassion. " I know you didn't mean it you were scared" I was relived he understood. I layed down,I was still about a foot and a half away from him. He wrapped a fur strip around his ankle. He was in pain I know he was. I sighed I was shivering from the cool late summer breeze. He layed down in the fetal position obviously cold I sighed and stood up then I layed down next to him, he almost immediately nuzzled into my fur. My fur was still damp and my stomach and paws where caked with gunk from me laying in that small cage. But he didn't seem to mind...and neither did I.cold

Novas POV

I sighed as I lay in my small burrow. I shivered slightly as my winter coat was growing in late. I struggled to sleep every night....due to the cold and loneliness.

Freddy's POV (Eddy's dad)

I paced around the kitchen as my wife sat crying. "Its gonna be okay sweetie...well find him..........dead or alive" I whispered that last part. I hugged my wife and walked back to the 'crime scene'. The blood was splattered on the cage and on the soil. It was 1:30am and the whole town was awake. "Eddy unlocked the cage...there's no way the wolf could do that. " my buddy says looking at me with a stern look. "I know that....that doesn't mean I'm not worried." He grabbed my shoulder "he betrayed use Fred...he needs to be punished" I snorted and turned away from him I heard him sigh and walk away.
