Anna's Tale

The Night shift

When the boys were finished laughing at me we sat on the couch quietly for a few minutes letting everything process. I started feeling restless. I got up off of Bryce's lap and started pacing. They exchanged worried looks. "Anna, what is it?" Bryce asked me, voice laced with concern. "I dunno, I just feel restless." I shrugged  "Oh, shit! The full moon, you are getting ready to shift." Bryce jumped up and pulled me outside. He mind linked to pack, telling them to gather for a pack run, the first with their Luna. I smiled at him as we reached the yard and then my body stiffened and I felt like I was on fire. 

"Just relax, Anna, let it happen. Don't fight it, Love." Bryce soothed. I fell to my hands and knees and I felt every bone in my body break. I screamed, but then it turned into a howl. The pain stopped and I looked up at Bryce and Carter both had their mouths wide open and gaping at me. I tried to talk, but it came out as a bark, which frustrated me and I growled. That made both of them laugh. So, I did what anyone in my place would have done, I pounced on them. By the time they hit the ground, they had both changed into their wolves. I had seen Bryce's wolf before, but he was still beautiful. Carter was a slightly smaller brown wolf. I was standing on both of them, one paw in each chest. Carter nipped at me playfully and wiggled away. Bryce rubbed his muzzle against mine and licked my nose. How am I going to talk to them? "Mind link, duh" Bryce's voice came through.

 "Now, Let's run, My Luna." I nodded and we were off, soon we were surrounded by pack members enjoying the night air. I felt the wind in my fur and it was great. I have never felt better. " Hey. Bryce, what does my wolf look like?" "You are the most beautiful wolf I have ever seen. You are pure white with glowing blue eyes. I have never seen a pure white wolf before or a wolf with blue eyes." He bumped me with his head and nipped at me to get me to follow him. We ran through a part of the woods that I have never been to. He stopped when we came to a clearing. It had the most beautiful view of the moon and stars. Bryce laid down to look at the sky and laid next to him and snuggled into his side. 

He shifted back. "Don't shift yet, Anna. Let me look at you." I laid my head on his lap and he started stroking my fur. Oh my Goddess, that is wonderful. "I never thought I would find you. I traveled around to different packs, looking for you, but you were never there. Then one day I find you practically in my own backyard. I love you so much, Anna. I know you think you are nothing but trouble, but that is far from the truth. Sure, trouble does seem to follow you but, so does love, loyalty, beauty, family. You are the most wonderful person I have ever met.I want to marry you, have lots of pups, grow old with you. You more than I ever expected." I transform back into my human form and jump onto him, smothering him in kisses. "Of course I want to marry you and have your pups and be with you forever. You are my heart. I love you, Bryce." He laughs and crushes my lips in a passionate kiss. His hands start to roam all over my nakedness and I could care less that we are out in an open field, naked, and about to make love. That is until a bunch of giggles erupted from behind us. "Damn Izzy, you cock blocked me." I whine at her, she laughs harder and tosses me my clothes. "What's so important, Izzy?" Bryce growls at her as he is pulling on his clothes.  

"Mary is causing all kinds of hell in her cell." Izzy tells us, looking a bit more concerned than I would like. "Ben went down there to calm her down but she won't." 

"What is her deal? Bryce says shaking his head. We start back to the house and all I can think about is wanting to have Bryce in my arms again. As if he can hear my thoughts, he looks at me and winks. "Don't worry, we are going to finish what we started, little one." This causes me to blush and him and Izzy to laugh.  

As we enter the dungeon, we hear Mary's screams. Bryce and I look at each other with concern. When we get to her cell, we see Ben waiting for us.

"I'm glad you are here. She has turned almost completely feral.  She needs to be put down."  Ben tells us with a heavy sigh. He then walks into her cell and looks at her and says, "I, Ben Saunders, reject you, Mary Clay, as my mate." I can see the tears in his eyes as he quickly leaves the room. My heart broke for Ben, rejecting one's mate is very painful and can cause one or both of them to die. Sometimes, a wolf can find a second chance mate, but it is very rare.

"You! You have taken everything from me!" Mary screamed as we walked into her cell. "No, Mary, your actions have caused this. You have no one to blame but yourself." Bryce told her calmly. He turns to me and asks, "Do you want to stay and watch this or go tend to Ben?" I sighed, knowing that when a wolf goes feral there is nothing that can be done to save them and she would have to die. 

"I'm going to Ben, I don't want to see her die." Bryce nods. I look at Mary, the only mother I ever knew and my heart breaks. As a tear runs down my face I tell her that I love her and run from the dungeon.

 I find Ben in the living room with his head in his hands, silently weeping. I sit next to him and place my hand on his back. He suddenly wraps his arms around me and cries on my shoulder and my tears fall for him, for Mary, for my Father, and for Carter. After a few minutes, he pulls back and cups my face in his hands. He looks into my eyes and smiles, "Anna, you hold no blame here for what Mary has done or for what has happened to her. You are a good person with a kind heart. I am so sorry that I didn't see through her lies and that I couldn't protect you and your brother from her."  I return his smile. "Ben, you are not to blame, either. Sometimes, love can blind us from seeing the faults of those we love. I am so sorry that you lost your mate." He hugs me again and then stands, "I am going to go home now. There is nothing left here for me to do. If you ever need me, Anna, I am just a phone call away." I nod and he is was gone.

I head to my room, I need a shower. As I stepping into the shower, I hear Bryce coming into our room. The next thing I know, I am in his arms and he is kissing me. I know that he needs me as much as I need him right now. His wolf is sad about having to kill Mary and my wolf is sad to be the cause of all the trouble lately. After making love in the shower and dressing for bed, we cuddle up together. As I lay my head on Bryce's chest, I let out a sigh. 

"What is wrong, Little one?" Bryce asks. "It's just been a rough few months and I feel like something big is still coming. I want to train with the warriors. My real dad told me I was very powerful and I want to use that to protect our pack." I can feel his inner debate. "I know you want to train and I know you are driven to protect our pack as I am driven to protect you. I also know that if I try to stop you, you are going to do it anyways, so we will start your training tomorrow." I smile"Thank you, I love you, my big bad wolf." His chest shakes with his laughter. "I love you, too, little one." My eyes close and I am taken away by sleep.
