The two of them stood on the dusty footpath in silence.
untill James turned to her. "Eventful night huh." he said, arkwardly scratching the back of his neck. "I know you'reprobably terrifyed right now-"
"Well he isn't completly blind now is he,"
"Sorry, what?"
"Nothing,"
He gave her a strange look, then kept talking.
"I know you're probably terrifyed right now, but I need to get you back to HQ, so-"
"Woa woa, slow down. HQ? No. I have a family. We have to atleast tell them were I am. i can't just go.I can't put them through that much worry."
"I don't think dead people can worry,"
James muttered under his breath.
"Exuse me, what?" Amy said, not politly.
He winced.
"What?" She asked again, even less politly. "I don't think dead people can worry." he said, at a higher volume.Silence fell over the two like a blanket of ice.
" You better not be telling me what I think you're telling me," she said, venom lacing her voice. Tears glistened in her eyes.
"Amy," James stared at his toes, took a deep breathe, looked back at her and exhaled, His eyes ridded of their usual excitment, he said "Amy your family... didn't make it."
"But, my Mum,you should have seen her punch, they wouldn't be able to overpower her, and my Dad, the best shot in the state..." she choked on her tears. James walked over too her. "Well, they go down without a fight. no-one left that house alive. As soon as you left they attacked Jade and her family. I knew they planed on attacking you I just didn't know when, so when they attacked I left them with Ariana and Pat-"
"Who?"Amy asked between sobs
"Genavive and Max, their real names are Ariana and Patrick. When i got to your place your little brother was taking on three of 'em with a baseball bat, your Dad was useing his pistol as a close range wepon after running out of ammo, while your mum- holy shit, she was the center of it all. your Dad and brother were really only her sidekicks. knives were flying everywere. where'd she learn to throgh? The punches she threw aswell... she was last to go. she lost too much blood from the wounds. She only held on long enogh to give tell me to give you a message, because of the addrenilin. She said to tell you that she loved you. They all did."All through this speech, Amy had been sobbing, but it was controled sobbing. When the last word came out of his mouth, About her mum, she let go.
She let go of it all. Her face contorted to full fleged crying uglyness. Tears flew down her face freely. Her knees gave way, so she sat on the footpath, with her head in her hands. James put a hand on her sholder to comfort her, but she smacked his hand away. "I know how you feel."
She lifted her head out of her hands. tears stained her cheeks and she wore an expression of pure discust. "No you don't." she said "No-one, on this entire planet, knows how i feel right now."
"Yes, I do. Believe me."
"No you DON'T!" she screamed at him.
Saddness, turns into anger, and can be taken out on anyone, even if they don't deserve it.little did she know, James believed he did.
"Well Amy, what do you think happened to me!"
"I dunno you were with your parents at dinner!"
He let out a shaky laugh.
"you think they're my parents? really? all protocol and seriousness? No. They're not my parents."
he said, deadly calm.
"Then who is?!?"poor Amy, her brain was too emoitionally clouded to pick up the signs.
"My parents, Amy, Were brutally murdered infront of my eyes! They died and I could hear they're screams. Unlike yours they didn't even stand a fighting chance! They weren't fighters! they weren't like you and I! Sure they sassed the fucking HELL out of 'em, not sure I'd anyone roasted so badly in my entire fucking life, but they weren't fighters. They died painfully, and slowly. Atleast you didn't have to watch yours go."
Towards the end his voice trailed off to barely a wisper. Tears showed in his eyes. Slowly he walked over to were she was still sobbing on the footpath.
He knelt down beside her and put his arm around her. "So yes, Amielia Cardiri, I DO know how you feel."
She kept crying, but now atleast she had a shoulder to cry into.
Eventually, the uncontrollable sobbs faded to silent tears. She looked up into James' face and saw tears rolling down his cheeks. His face was emotionless, but his eyes were not. They glistened with tears, but James never made a sound. "Does the pain ever fade?" Amy asked. He looked down at her. "Never."
"I want to see them."
"Sorry?"
"I want to see them." she answered, a little more forcibly. "You want to see them, now?" James' eyes grew wider.
"Yes."
"Well Then," he detached his arm from her shoulders. Amy was surprised at the suddden coldness biteing her skin. "We have to go. They're resting at your last home." he stood upand offered her his hand. she gladly took it. "What do you mean, 'last home'?"
"Well, your one of us now," a cheeky smile played on his lips. "You live with us."----------------------------------------------
