calum sat peacefully on the balcony, concentrating fiercely on the painting in front of him.

he was attempting to paint for his class instead of watching the rest of grey's anatomy. he was on season 9 now and as much as he hated to admit it he was so attached it was hard not watch it every time he had down time.

his paint brush scratched against the canvas and swirled in his palate of acrylics. cityscapes were always hard for calum to reproduce since everything was always moving and changing. how could he capturing the twinkling lights in buildings, or headlights of cars racing down the streets?

he tried his best to add all the requirements but continued to struggle. finally, after a half hour that lead to very little achievement he decided to choose something else.

as he cleaned up his workspace he heard the front door open.

"hello? calum?" bryana's voice rang through the open screen door and onto the balcony.

"out here!" calum called grabbing his canvas and easel to bring inside in case it rained.

"oh hey. you know luke," she said revealing the tall lanky boy behind her.

"yea sure, hey luke," calum waved and luke smiled back.

"you got a little something there," he added gesturing to calum's paint splattered face.

he blushed wiping at the spot under his eye only to have bryana and luke laugh.

"just made it worse but purple is your color,"she laughed.

"look i mixed this myself trying to paint the stupid skyline," he grinned grabbing the wet washcloth next to his paints.

"it looks good cal,"bryana said as they moved back inside, the balcony a little cramped for the three of them and all of calum's art supplies.

"it's not right though, it's for my art class and i can't get all the requirements in and also make it look the way i want it," he groaned washing his hands.

"paint us! i love posing for you and luke does modeling you know?" she said after a few moments of consideration.

"i'm down," luke said disinterestedly picking at the black nail polish on his fingers.

"okay um i'll get a new canvas and lay down the sheet in the living room. you guys figure out some poses and i'll make sure the requirements line up," calum said, his mind racing with hundreds of possible ideas.

when he came back luke and bryana were bickering childishly about where they'd be placed.

"okay i do portrait modeling so i think we should do this," luke said readjusting they way they were standing so they were facing calum's easel.

"luke that was like one time. c'mon we gotta do something better," she replied shuffling them around again.

calum grinned at the way they fought, as though they were siblings. he looked at how they could barely keep serious as they argued, stifling laughs at each other's comebacks.

he quickly snapped a photo of them trying to get a good candid shot to paint from but they noticed since he forgot to turn off his ringer.
