2000 years ago, I dreamed that I fell in love with you.
I had closed my eyes one day, and when I opened them you were lying next to me. There were lavender, tulips and dahlias surrounding us as we laid under the large oak tree. A blue butterfly landed on the tip of your nose due to how still you were. Everything was so peaceful until you stood up and looked down at me. The sun shadowed your back which caused your whole body to glow through my eyesight.
"It's time for us to go." you told me.
So I followed you back to our house which wasn't far from the oak tree. The garden was covered in flowers we had cared for together ever since we had moved in. The lilies had finally come out proudly which had taken up all of the space by the bay windows. The country house was cosy, with creaky floorboards and bendy walls. This house had been ours for multiple years ever since you'd asked me to marry you under that same oak tree, dahlia in hand.
I walked into the kitchen and took out what I needed to feed Theo. I prepared the milk before I found you upstairs holding the small boy in your arms, tickling his chubby cheeks. I felt a smile immediately paint on my lips as I stroked his dark skin. I handed you the bottle so you could feed him before he was placed back in his cot, his eyelids half closed. We'd adopted Theo a year ago after his birth mother gave him up for adoption and we were both thrilled to receive him. Theo had only brought us closer, he was our little treasure.
The living room was the largest room in the house, a large black piano placed in the corner where you often sat to play to me. I would usually have the fire burning and would hum along to the melody of your music. Sometimes I would even sit in a chair with Theo and we'd both listen to you play different pieces in which our little boy fell asleep to. Photos were scattered across the walls as well, ones from us being sixteen to now at thirty-six. My favourite was when Theo was six months old and we took him to Filey for a day. It was of us both holding his small arms as he tried to paddle in the sea. The beach was our all time favourite place to go, the area had connected us so many times let alone make me fall in love with you even more. The sea would forever connect us both together, our bond would be never severed. I would always remember those words a wrote in the sand when I was staying with you as an evacuee.
To Dan
Tonight the stars had been thrown across the sky, glimmering. I sat with you counting each one out through a window, sitting on either side of the window sill. I felt a scintilla of peace in that moment. After all these lifetimes, I'd married you, I'd had children with you. Two thousand years ago I only dreamt that I had fallen in love with you, two thousand years later I was in love with you.
Suddenly, you crawled over to me and kissed me slowly. My wrapped my hand in your silky hair as our lips touched briefly. Afterwards you sat in between my legs as we watched multiple fireworks fire up into the sky from a nearby house. The dots of colours splattered across the canvas, sparkling. Red for love, orange for happiness, green for balance and blue for peace. In this moment I had pulled you closer to me however not before long we had fallen asleep in each other's arms; your chest rising slowly as you listened to the sound of my heart beat. The next morning I decided to write you a letter, I wanted to finish my work from all those years ago. I wanted you to know my desire and my passion for you, after all this time, it felt about right.
To Dan,
When I first met you, I was fascinated by you and there was a feeling deep inside my chest telling me that I always wanted to be with you. Perhaps this reincarnation was a curse. Every life time we would suffer and remember, a curse of our burdens we remember once we live again. Maybe I didn't mind this though, I'm glad I waited 2000 years to meet you again.
No matter how many times I die, I will always want to meet you.
I want to fall in love you all over again.
