So while I was away, something dramatic happened which left me shaking, in tears. No, nobody died... But it was close. I'm going to tell this like a story because I'm bored and it sounds cooler that way XD
I wake up. It's pitch black and freezing cold in this bedroom. I'm not used to it. This bedroom belongs to a couple of my mum's close friends from university, aka my godparents, and I'm staying with them and their 3 kids for a while. I roll over to face the direction of the chest of drawers next to the bed. Of course, I can't see it but I know it's there. It has my alarm clock, my lamp, my docking station, my books and a few other things on it. I reach towards the lamp, I want to see the time. As I turn it on I feel strange, almost like I'm being watched. The lamp flickers on and sure enough, there under the lamp, four pairs of eyes stare at me. Barely 15cm away from my face is a huge spider. It's big body, slick and brown, it's disgusting eight legs shiny and disgusting. I grab my phone and quickly open the internet. Straight to Google I go. I've never seen a spider like that so I may as well research it and find out what I should do with it. At this point I'm not scared I'm just curious. I type in 'common UK spiders' and scroll through the results until I find a picture that looks like it. I find one that resembles it:
*LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU HAVE ARACHNOPHOBIA, SERIOUSLY, DO IT! I SEE YOU OVER THERE STILL READING! LOOK AWAY PLEASE!!! I'M GOING TO COUNT DOWN FROM 100 AND THEN THERE WILL BE A PICTURE OF A SPIDER HERE SO LOOK AWAY NOW!!! A HUNDRED NINETY NINE NINETY EIGHT NINETY SEVEN NINETY SIX NINETY FIVE NINETY FOUR... ET CETERA ET CETERA. I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO FINISH COUNTING BUT THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO LOOK AWAY!!!*

Creepy huh? Anyways, back to the story.
I click on the photo. It takes me to a random website titled 'Britains Top Ten Most Poisonous Spiders'. Now I'm starting to freak out a bit. However I'm still hoping that maybe it's an example of a non poisonous spider but... No. It's no. 6 on the list. The website said it was a Tube Web spider. A venomous spider which can deliver sharp, powerful bites with pain that can last up to six hours. Yep. There's a coaster on the chest of drawers so I pick it up (it's the only thing that isn't mine, I don't exactly want spider blood all over my things) and I hover it over the spider, ready to slam it down and slice off it's head. However, as I raise the coaster, ready for the kill, the spider runs off behind the mirror. I can feel goosebumps crawling up my arms and back. I start shaking and hyperventilating (I know it was an overreaction but it was the middle of the night, I couldn't help it!), tears well up in my eyes so I tell myself to calm down and take a deep breath. So I do. I slowly move the mirror towards me with just two fingers but when I look, the spider's gone. At this point I'm so scared, I'm crying. So I run through to my godparents' room. Luckily they're awake so I tell them what happened and they go and look for it but they can't find it so I end up spending the rest of the night in the baby's bedroom because there's already a bed set up in there.
That was it really. The next day we cleaned out my room and vacuumed behind the drawers where there were LOADS of spider webs. My godmother told me something big, round and dark went up the hoover there but she didn't look properly to see if it was a spider or not because she didn't want to freak out the kids.
I'm so grateful they did all that for me because at home, my parents wouldn't do that. The weird thing is that usually I'm not scared of spiders, I don't particularly like them but I'm not scared of them. I don't know if I just scared myself by Googling it or if I was just tired. Maybe I was just really uncomfortable around it. I don't even know.
Okay well, I just thought that story might be interesting.
