"Keith! Hustle and get your ass over
here!" He rolled his eyes as he jogged over to coach White. "Yes?" He looked at his clipboard, tapping his pen on the side. "We've got a meet this Saturday, you gonna be there?"
"Of course!"
"Good, now..."Keith glanced down to his step counter, 306 steps. Cool, it's cool, I'm good. Keith started to blush just thinking about it. Which was something he doesn't do too often, unless he was walking home.
"Kogane! Are you even paying attention?" Keith hadn't realized that his coach had been discussing something about Gray, a teammate of his. "Oh! Right, my bad." Keith glanced down to Coach White's counter, it had a big fat zero on it. Lucky him, he doesn't have to worry about finding "the one," he already found it. I hope I can be as lucky as him. "-So as I said, I'm gonna need you do the high jump" Coach White finished. "Wait, what? High Jump!?" Coach White looked even more annoyed than he did with this comment. "Yes. Keith. I just explained that Gray had dropped out because his grandmother died.""Right! Yea, I mean. I'll try to do the high jump." Keith turned away to look at all of his teammates, then down to his counter. Alright, I need to stop. I don't care about meeting them yet, I've just got to focus on school and stuff. And- OMG THAT BOY CAN FUCKING JUMP. Keith's attention was drawn to a tall skinny, a very handsome guy. His hair was a beautiful brown, with tan skin. His heart skipped a beat when he saw him do another high jump, he was a natural. Keith couldn't believe that he had to do the high jump, and the other guy didn't. He was almost jealous of his ability to do it so well.
~Later~
Keith took his time walking home, staring at his counter. He told himself that he wouldn't do this, especially since he did it everyday he walked home. 126, 125, 124. Slowly, Keith finally made it to his house, one of which, he despised. He's never had the same family for more than 1 year, and frankly, he was getting tired of the same old shit.
He slowly opened the door, weary of the things that lurked behind. "Keith? Is that you?" The only decent person in his family was his "mother."
"Yea!" Keith put his backpack down on the ground and walked into his mother's art room. She stood there mixing the colors to get that perfect purple shade she needed. "Did you have a good day at school?" He shrugged, "It was okay, normal as usual."
"Mm. That's good, your father's going to be home soon, would you mind making dinner?" Yay. Keith's dad was finally gonna get back from his week long business trip to Florida. He especially hated his dad, he just, didn't know how to be a father.
"Sure, but I have to run to the store to get a few things."
"Alright. Just be back soon!"Keith put his running shoes back on and opened the door. A nice breeze started to pick up, the slight wind pushed Keith's hair into his face. With a sigh, he tied his hair into a ponytail and began his way to the store. On his way there, it started to sprinkle, then it started to poor. Soon enough, Keith had been drenched, but he didn't care, he just wanted to get his stepfather out of his head. When Keith turned the corner, he could see the light from the store's sign shinning on the flooded ground. It was poring so much that it was hard for Keith to see, but he didn't think much of it. Especially since no one would be crazy enough to be running in the rain. But of course, he was wrong. He ran straight into something, no, someone.
Shit. "Fuck. I mean, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there" Keith yelled over the rain.
"Don't worry about man. That was my fault." Keith bent over to help the poor person up, then he noticed something. The hand he was holding had very tan skin, his gaze went up their arm, right to their eyes. Keith began to blush, a lot. This was the guy from track practice today, the tall one. Well, they're all tall. He thought to himself."Hey! You're Keith right? From the track team?" Keith's whole body got warmer, despite the cold rain beating down on him. "Y-yea" he replied quietly. "I mean, yea!" The boy smiled, which absolutely melted Keith's heart. This boy was going to be the death of him. Just then, something compelled Keith to look down at his counter, his eyes widens immediately. The counter had a big fat zero on it. "Holy fuck..."
"I'm sorry, what was that?"
Keith whipped his head up and made eye contact with him.
"I said, what did you say your name was?"
"Lance."
