It’s been very quiet Alec’s place for the last 20 years no incidents, everything as it should be calm and peaceful in fact almost as though nothing had ever happened. Claire and Alec are now married and their home? Yes it was Alec’s place they just could not afford anywhere else not just yet.
Were they happy together, well yes of course and have a family two daughters twins who were unexpected but were deeply loving but so different in personality. Their names, Alecia and Clara and were now 15 years old and described by their teachers as being extremely intelligent but also very robust in their characters. Their report cards always had straight A’s every parents dream but the behavioural comments from their teachers were the most interesting of all especially this last year. There was nothing really bad but it was because their characters were so different Alecia was always the kind, considerate and loving one who always seemed to involved in helping those that were hurt or had problems, Clara always seemed to be where the trouble was either causing it or sorting it out between factions.
To Alec and Claire they were both typical teens and were both loving and caring, but were a handful at times particularly when they were had a cause to fight with each other, not physically but the arguments between them could be quite fearful at times. The last occasion was only last week when an unholy row erupted over clothes for no apparent reason and Alec was called on to sort it out. It was usually Claire that sorted these kinds of arguments out but had been feeling very unwell recently and had asked Alec to diffuse the argument. When Alec was involved any argument was quickly solved as Dads usually have that effect in any case, but this time the argument was settled extremely quickly. He had got them both together and told them that their Mom just could not cope with them arguing this way as it was making her illness worse. This had the immediate effect of peace and both of them going straight to their Mom and apologising for upsetting her.
Claire’s illness was a bit of a mystery she had been to her local doctors and had been referred to hospital for various tests. The result of those tests were inconclusive as to what the problem was and was explained to Alec and Claire as a severe virus. Claire over the weeks that passed seemed to get a little worse each day and Alec and the girls were getting really worried about her especially when she had recently been confined to her bed the previous day having so little energy. There was little change in Claire’s condition over the next few days the doctor had been to see her and the best thing that he could come up with was for her to rest. There was only one noticeable thing that had changed with Claire and that was the blonde streak in her hair which had stayed with her since that day at Durham Cathedral and it was Clara who had pointed it out as it had now changed to a brilliant white in colour.
It was later that evening when the girls had returned from school and went to see their mother that Alecia commented “looks as though we are in for a bit of a storm” Alec looked from the bedroom window to notice that the sky was turning black and said looks like it’s going to be a bad one too. They all sat and talked to Claire for a while the girls giving her a full account of their day when the power went out and the room was as dark as night. There was only light from the lightning strikes that now lit the room as the storm erupted around them. Those flashes of lightning were extremely brilliant and the thunder shook the house it was so violent Alecia and Clara moved closer to Alec they had never liked storms since they were born and they were frightened by this one.
It was Claire that broke the tension “do you remember years ago we had a lot of storms like these?” All too well he replied ”and all those things that happened?” Yes said Alec and I don’t really want to be reminded all that much about those times. “THAT IS SUCH A SHAME” boomed a strangely familiar voice. It was the next flash of lightning that revealed who said those words it was Sue. Alecia and Clara had immediately changed their positions to be behind Alec and were shaking with fear. Claire smiled at Sue “what are you doing here?” I am happy that at least someone is pleased to see me said Sue now talking much quieter. “You know I am happy to see you” Claire replied “for you are a part of me that I will never forget but why are you here?” Sue continued yes you are a part of me and I am drawn to you as I said those many of your years ago it is time for assistance.
