DISCLAIMER: I don't own the hobbit nor any of the lovely characters within it. However Good old Lizzy and Katie are my own.
When both of the women woke they were met with the unusual feeling of grass beneath their fingers and uneven ground underneath their back. This proved to be an effective form for waking them up.
"What the hell!" Katie exclaimed looking at Elizabeth with wide eyes as they both shot to their feet in alarm.
Elizabeth's head swivelled around, her eyes taking in her surroundings and noticing they were in a patch of woods. Rested on the floor before them was their own backpacks filled with essentials, backpacks that Lizzy had always had on hand in the case of something tragic emergency (don't blame her for being paranoid, she's worried that one of these days Katie might light their apartment on fire).
"Katie what did you do?" Lizzy couldn't rationally procure an explanation for their predicament, so she defaulted to the easiest thing to do, which was to blame Katie.
"I didn't do anything. I couldn't have, I was asleep and then... Lizzy we're lost, w-what are we going to do?" She cried in worry.
"I'm British I don't get lost I just wonder about until I find out where I am and that's precisely what we are going to do. Let's find someone, ask them where we are and try to figure out how we got here and then go home." Elizabeth reasoned that that had to be the best course of action so she tracked down a path that she assumed would lead to some form of civilisation and followed it, her pack hoisted over her shoulder. Katie ran to Elizabeth's side and attempted to match her friends brisk, yet clearly frantic, pace.
When they walked to a top of an exceptionally high hill they both gasped for before them lay a beautiful village like no other. Grassy hills with rounded doors and immaculate gardens in front of them. The few people that walked around had uncommonly large hairy feet, no shoes covering them they looked very much like Hobbits...
"WE'RE IN HOBBITON!" The taller of the duo screeched, almost fainting from the shock.
"WE'RE IN A BOOK!" Katie, in a tone just as loud, shreaked, "What are we going to do?" She asked her friend nervously.
"We are going to find Gandalf he's a main plot character and he's intelligent, he might know how to solve this." Elizabeth mused, her fingers ringing nervously. She knew the likelihood of finding him might be slim but she was determined to get home so she marched down the hill with Katie in toe.
"Oh yeah Gandalf the wizard in the lord of the rings. I liked those films. He's like Dumbledore just-"
"He is not DUMBLEDORE! He is completely separate from that he uses a staff not a wand and besides if I think we are where we are we need to find Bilbo's house he could find out where Gandalf is for us depending what stage of the books, or films, we are in." Lizzy muttered to herself, "Now from the books and the film Bilbo's house should be at the top of a hill,...it must be right..," her eyes scanned the terrain in front of her before landing on the house she was looking for, "THERE!" Elizabeth frantically ran to the Hobbit hole.
"Lizzy are you sure Dumbledore can help us?" Katie said as she chased after her best friend.
"It's not Dumbledore its Gandalf and what choice do we have, let's just try in the very least."
When they both reached the door they stared at it for a few brief seconds, nerves collecting amongst them.
"Lizzy why don't you knock." Katie suggested, to weary of what would happen if she did.
"Why don't you, your social skills are much better than mine." Elizabeth snipped back.
"I disagree."
