I think you already heard about Little Red Riding Hood. Well, she isn't little anymore after all those years.

Miaka still visits her Grandmother very often but today is different from the others;

'Bring some food with you, Miaka. I think Grandmother will be delighted to see what you brought for her from the village.' Miaka mumbles to herself, imitating her mother. Her mother was just scared of Grandmother, Miaka doesn't know why. Well, Grandma was the mother of her father... Maybe he could have explained why mother is so scared of Grandmother, if he was still under the living.

She kicks some leaves with her shoes, who are lying on the ground. Autumn almost ended and winter is coming. Miaka grabs her red cloak and trows it around her shoulders. She first thought it wasn't cold enough to wear the cloak. While knotting the cloak around her, she noticed that weird noises are surrounding her. Miaka speeds up her pace, trying to forget her crazy imagination.

'Why do they even tell stories about The Big Bad Wolf? Everybody should have guessed that there are more creatures like that, running in the forest.' Her Grandma didn't just tell her stories about wolves, she also taught her how to fight one, of course. A bird unexpected flies away, what makes her jump. After a few seconds she chuckles about her foolish action. 'Only, I never met one.' She thought.

The sun was only up for an hour but that wasn't the problem. There was a lot of fog, what makes the path unclear. Miaka never walked the path to her Grandmother wrong, but she began to worry if this would be the first time. She looked around her, searching for some familiar sights. For a moment she stands still, thinking about the possibilities. If she guesses the way wrong, would she be able to know it before it's too late?

Like, before the wolves are noticing that she doesn't know what she does? They already should have noticed that she is in the woods, all alone. Grandma told her if Miaka feels scared or panicked, it already would be too late to do something about it. Then the only thing she can hope is that they aren't hungry or active. 'If they attack, I will show no mercy.' She thought in her little brainstorm-time.

She tightens the cloak closer around her, the cold doesn't seem to disappear. When she sniffs the smell of the cloak, fresh lemon, she thought about an old nightmare. ~~Everything around her is so big and tall, mostly out of reach. Her little legs are walking faster then a mouse, really wanting to see Grandmother. The house is in sight, walking to the door while dragging the basket full of food. The door was already slightly open, waiting to be pushed open any moment.

A low growl and scratches are coming from inside the house. A loud bang is fired, helping the door to stand wide open. Really scared but also very curious, begging for an explanation, she waited outside. It's silence for a while, the bird are still not dared to chirp. Again the growling begins, but now closer to the little girl. She steps back, turns to run but falls to the ground.

A tight grip is placed on the back of her red cloak, dragging her further from the house. She can't see who picked her up, only capable of listening to the unsteady breathing. Her legs almost touches the ground and her arms are just dangled beside her. While hanging still for a while, she get turned around. Someone tries to stand up at the front of the house of Grandmother. While focusing on the person, the growling starts to get louder behind her.

'Mia?!' The person yells, running to the girl. In a matter of seconds the little defenseless girl got thrown to a tree, now being able to see the whole scene. The old looking woman points a gun to a big black creature. The bright red eyes of the beast are locked on the human. The loud bang reveals itself again, making the creature roar really powerful.
In a blink of an eye, the wild beast is gone. Her vision blurs and the sounds around her begin to fade away.~~

'I still don't understand this nightmare...' Miaka says to herself. She looks around her, but she get dragged to the ground. A heavy weight stands upon her body, making it impossible to move. Heavy breathing and a horrible smell are sensed by her. She slowly opens her eyes, now looking right at a pair of bright red eyes. She holds her breath, trying to understand the situation. Wolf.

'Dammit.' She mumbles. Miaka tried to take the gun who was hidden in her pocket, only it's just out of reach. Her fingertips can touch the end slightly. 'It's just a wolf, who want to KILL ME!' She screams in her throughs. The black fur from the wolf shines in the sunlight. The wolf comes closer to her face, the teeth are just inches from her skin. She closes her eyes, accepting she can do nothing.

Miaka takes a deep breath, waiting for the impact. The weight upon her becomes a little bit heavier but then the whole pressure disappears completely. A powerful growl begins behind Miaka's back and a shadow jumps before her. Piercingly barking starts a few feet away, seeing a fight between the black wolf and another wolf. The black wolf tries to bite his opponent but fails. Eventually it escapes from the fight, too weak to fight alone against three wolves.

It's silence for a long time, hearing the black wolf sprint away through the trees. The three wolves aren't moving an inch. They all are observing the beautiful girl, sitting all alone in a ripped off cloak. Miaka looks at the wolves, seeing in each of their eyes a glance of humanity.
