The ending makes things clear

It was back in the old days, 1779. Slavery was normal, so no questions asked.

'Sold! To Miss Angelique Appleton from the Royal Family Appleton Barnett Blackwood.' The people, who were watching the auction, were smiling like little kids seeing a puppet-show.

'Congratulations with your first slave, Angelique!' Said an old friend of mine. He is not welcome in our house since he told my family he got a job in the slavery-business. Actually, not welcome by my command. If my parents are home he can come in. Such a pity.

I do not prefer slavery... but everyone seems so easy about it! I, a young lady with a bright future, can't stand out of the crowd. Or what they are trying to say: You are a shame for this family if you do not follow the newest 'modernity'!

I turned back, seeing the boy covered in bruises and dried blood. His eyes were stuck on the ground but sometimes looked at the people, who were staring at him. Our eyes met each other, what made him flinch a little.

He doesn't even know me and he is already afraid of me? Did I do something wrong? Maybe I should smile? For a sign of friendship?

I made a little smile. His eyes became big and he tried to break free. I didn't mean it in that way!! Everybody around him got their attention at him. A tear escaped his eye.

'Seems you got a not so well trained slave. Maybe you want to switch him with someone else? Like that..-' I didn't even listen at the auction-man behind me. He just kept talking about some other boy. Didn't care to listen, my attention was on my property.

I slowly approached the boy. 'Angelique?' Someone mentioned. The boy was chained to a tree and was surrounded with mud. While I walked closer to the boy, my white heels almost disappeared in the mud.

'What are you doing, sweetheart?' I almost fell from surprise but the person behind me helped me standing on my heels. My eyes were still on the boy, too scared something would happen to him because of his misbehaving.

'It's okay. I won't hurt you...' Each step I took had a risk. Only one step between me and the boy. 'Lies! You are all the same!' The soft smile on my face disappeared. 'Well, that's not true. We are all the same, every human on this earth.'

Money takes things away, gives things without love. 'Can you prove me wrong? After all, we're only human. Always fighting what we're feeling, hurt instead of healing.' He was hesitating, thinking about a powerful answer. 'C-can we go?' I look at him with an emotionless face..

But then I realized, he is only covered under a piece of cloak. He must have it really cold! Without thinking twice I took of my beautiful, long, coat. Just reaching my ankles, almost in the mud. I unbuttoned the coat, with a swing it landed onto the boy's shoulders.

'Miss Angelique?' I ignored all the shocked faces. I looked in the eyes of the boy, he had beautiful brown eyes. 'Key!' It got silenced. 'Get this goddam lock open! Now!' My voice raised by every sentence.

A key was given to a stableboy, who eventually walked to the lock. 'No. I will unlock it.' The stableboy flinched, slowly giving the dirty old key in my white velvet gloves.
I freed the boy from the chains, giving him an hand to stand up. 'B-but you will get dirty...'
I gave him a little smile, assuring him that what dirt won't freak me out. It doesn't bite.

(^_^)

He once told me an old tale, about a boy who's soul was set free but his body disagreed. It wasn't like a real chain who kept him on the ground, but the feelings what he had for a woman, who saved him from the battleground.

Once time passed, I felt proud of freeing a boy from the path of disaster... but I couldn't feel satisfied after knowing his life was still in my hands. I saw it in his eyes, even though he hid it with his smile...

Tonight, when everyone sleeps I will free him. Free him from his chosen destiny, who I hold. Free him from his current life, who I can change any moment. Free him from the past, who will now on follow me.

With the torch in my hands, I stood on the cold stones. Staring at the boy, knowing he was awake. "You are right after all this time. Humans are horrible creatures..." My voices started to crack like an hopeless spirit, a lost spirit hiding in a shell.

A tear escaping my eye. "You will be free when the sun comes up." I gave him my word. Set him free; giving him the key? No. Giving him my love? No. The guards started to reach the room. Time goes up, time goes fast. Go, go, go before its up. Don't let there be any questions asked.

They reached the doorway, weapons ready. I will give him day and night. I threw my torch at their feet, while closing my eyes. Darkness took over, gunshots were flying past my ears like thunder, making the ground shake. Everything will be alright. Light reached the room, the sun made everything clear. Blood drops hit the floor, my heart being the source. Like a spell breaking the curse with an almighty force. Faith

I had set him free, that was what he asked for. I was the anchor what kept him on earth, the world what is filled with selfless creatures. I felt being in debt with him. If there was something I could do, I would do it without thinking twice.

Even if it meant giving him my life.

He was a demon
Lost in the world of humanity
Forgot his past
Forgot his intentions
Became a shadow of the night
Chained by the light

He returned after many years
Knowing it was she
She who released his soul
Saved him from a tragic life
Ripped of his human part
Revealing his poisoned heart

His return was expected
By the ruler of them all
The one who knows every secret
The secrets were never untold
The regrets of it were sinned
Sinned to the ruler

The ruler demanded the boy
Wanting the woman's soul
So he had to return to earth
Where her soul was reborn
Through time forgetting his past
Forgetting his intentions

The ruler knew it all along
The circle with no end
It keeps the world spinning
Mostly by the human's sinning
Every time he sent away the boy
Like he did by every demon who had to haunt an human soul
