Matt started eating cereal without much thought. He was replaying what happened during the night. Wayne said the truth, it was real. Right before breakfast, Matt showered and noticed a burn on his back from the laser. He decided to lie to his mother that it was a cigarette burn.
"Don't go out again honey,"his mother told him that morning. When she saw the small burn on his back, she became really worried.
"Matt,who did that?"
"A robot, well they called him robot since he threw cigarettes at anyone who passed by."
"Honey, you really need to be careful and don't go out at night. Now give me your phone and go eat breakfast." Matt nodded to what his mother said.
Matt jolted back to reality when his mom started shaking him. His watch read 7:47. He already was late and it took him ten minutes to get to school. He didn't care, after a sleepless night he did not want to go to school. Matt slumped back into his chair and sighed. At least he didn't have to go to school for a change.
"Matt,"his mom started screaming, Matt just stared. His mom went into the living room and came out with car keys jingling. Matt finally smiled and ran towards the car. His mom followed him as he got in. Maybe today wasn't going to be such a bad day.
The car pulled up to the school ten minutes later and Matt got out with his giant school bag and a lunch box. He raced up the stairs of the school and pulled the doors open as his mom drove off. Funny isn't everybody supposed to be in class? Matt was greeted by several kids running in the hall and he too ran to the classroom.
Matt was not surprised to see that Toby saved him a seat. Toby was Matt's friend who always stood by him and sneaked answers to him during test. Toby was a chubby boy with shirts that were always too small for him and a kind smile always on his face. Toby waved Matt over and he sat down next to Toby. Toby slipped a paper to Matt which he assumed was the homework. Matt didn't do his homework because of his tryouts and now he regretted it since there was going to be a test.
"Dang it" and Matt slumped his head on his desk. The class went as usual: boring, boring, and more boring. Matt dozed off until his teacher started screaming at him.
" Matt Oskofski what is the first element in the Periodic Table of Elements?" Toby whispered Matt the answer and Matt replied it to the teacher.
"Hydrogen." The teacher turned away obviously angry at Matt and said "Class dismissed!" Matt started running for the door, but Mrs. Brennan asked him to stay after class. Matt tried not to look anxious when everyone left.
"Matt, you don't look well," his teacher started, "you should study more also. Your grades have been going down." Matt nodded and kept his head down, he didn't want to answer any questions of why he was late or not studying.
"I contacted your mother, Matt. I had to, you didn't look well so I told her that a couple of minutes ago. She is worried for you Matt." Matt felt his cheeks flush when Mrs. Brennan said that. His mom was already angry at him for getting to school late and for supposedly going out.
"You can go now," she finally said, but Matt was not relived.
"You can go now Matt," Mrs. Brennan said in a strained voice. Matt nodded but again did not move.
"Matt! Get out of the classroom and go to lunch!" Matt ran out of the room, her voice following him.
Matt wound his way to the last table in the lunchroom where Toby sat. Matt blushed when he saw Brenda sitting there. She smiled as Matt sat next to her, he gave her a sad smile.
"Are you alright," she asked as Matt was throwing out his garbage.
"Yup! All fine," and Matt gave her a thumbs up to prove it.
"Ok superman, let's head  back to class." Matt liked Brenda, but it was unusual to hang out with girls. Matt decided to drag his feet behind Brenda in order to look less suspicious. When Brenda got to her locker, Matt leaned against the wall.
Suddenly, a striking pain went through him and he sunk to the ground.
"Matt!" Brenda ran to him with a huge speed.
    "Cold...."
"Think of the beach Matt, think of the summer. Think of the sun an a beautiful day." Matt thought of his sandman and felt better. Brenda helped him up. Both of them smiled as if on cue.
"You were great Brenda," Matt said as a few onlookers turned away.
"Thanks," she said as they continued to the classroom.
Class ended an hour later and Matt joined Brenda in the hallway.
"Let's go to Disney Land." Matt nodded though he wasn't allowed there.
"I have business to do there anyway." Since Matt forgot his bike, he climbed onto Brenda's. Matt decided to pedal for Brenda because he weighed more. Brenda didn't object and held onto Matt's shoulder. Matt pedaled and when he arrived pulled his cap over his face.
"I'm going to walk around over there," Matt pointed to a booth where Nina's hologram stood with parents jumbling around her, " I'll meet up with you in an hour. Brenda laughed and then smirked, I'm going with you Matt.
"Ok," Matt sighed and decided to tell her. "The world is in danger and an old guy called Wayne gave me the task to stop evil from spilling out of this park. I was made a Disney Tour Guide yesterday and last night when I fell asleep, I became one. Wayne told me to get the other guys and to go to sleep about the same time. You don't have to believe me, but I just wanted to tell you."
    "Matt-"
"No, you don't have to believe me. Just, I trust you and don't tell anyone." Brenda nodded to what Matt said.
"Matt, I already knew. Sorry." Matt stood there frozen and then walked of to the hologram of Nina. Kids of all ages ran through her and laughed.
"She is in Banyes high school. That is their school uniform." Brenda pointed to a tag on the shirts the booths were selling.
    "Souvenirs of Nina, eh?"
"Yes, but now we know where to find her. If we get there in twenty minutes we will find her. Their school ends later, so she will be there. Let's just hope she's not sick."
"Don't worry Matt, she will be there. Brenda got onto her bike and started pedaling. Matt held on to her shoulders this time.
"Matt get off the bike, this is the school. Matt jumped off and ran to the entrance and then turned around and ran into the parking lot where a door was wide open. Inside, there were many children, but Nina was spotted next to the third table. Matt ran to her and pulled on her arm.
    "Go to bed at nine."
"It is not safe," Nina replied with a quiver in her voice.
