Ross's P.O.V

"Here we are!" Tim cheered as we entered the smallish apartment. I guess it would do until later.
Max walked in behind me. "I'll show you to your room." He grumbled. I shakily nodded,  and followed. The room was an okay size, not too big not too small, almost perfect, but still a little cramped.  I'll make do.
"So, um I guess you should just put you're stuff here....I don't know about your furniture.." Max trailed off, until I interrupted the silence.
"I have a truck coming tomorrow, so.."
"Oh, well then, I guess you can sleep on the couch tonight.."
"Okay.."
An awkward silence filled the air.
"HEY MAX!" Tim's yell made both of us jump.
"I THINK THE COUCH IS BROKEN! IT DOESN'T SPRING LIKE IT DID BEFORE!"
Max sighed. "TIM, THE COUCH IS FINE! JUST....CAN YOU START ON DINNER? I'LL BE OUT IN A SEC!"
"OKAY!"
"So...welcome to the apartment..?" Max awkwardly said with a shrug.
"Heh."
Max reached out and ruffled my hair. "You'll be just fine, kid." He left the room.
I pulled out my bag and dumped it out on the floor. It consisted of my katanas, some manga, a couple pairs of clothes, and an empty bag of Doritos. The rest of my stuff would come in a couple days, so I guess I'll have to do with what I've got.
I heard yells coming from the kitchen.
"TIM NO! YOU DON'T MICROWAVE MAC 'N' CHEESE!"
"BUT IT SAYS 'MICROWAVABLE'!"
"THATS AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE MICROWAVABLE CUPS!"
"oh, oH, OH OH OH NO!"
"TIM LOOK NOW ITS ON FIRE!"
"WHERES THE EXTINGUISHER?!"
I sighed and left the room. When I got out to the kitchen, I could see that the microwave was clearly on fire, whilst Max was frantically searching for a fire extinguisher, and Tim was running around screaming. I spotted the extinguisher in the living room and grabbed it.
"U-uh, Max? I found it!"
"Great! Now quick, put out the fire!"
"Uhm.." I had no idea how to work one of these. I looked at Max, and then back at the extinguisher.
"Fine. I'll do it!" Max took the extinguisher and put the flame out in a couple of seconds.
Tim continued to scream and flail his arms about.
"Tim. The fire is out." Max put his hand out and stopped Tim.
"What? Oh." Tim looked around.
"Well, that escalated quickly.." I said with a chuckle.
After the Mac 'n' Cheese Predicament, we had cereal for dinner, since nobody wanted to cook anything else.
"Well, I mean, either way, I guess we're still having bits of grain in a bowl of liquid!" Tim grinned, trying to crack a joke.
"...what?" Max tilted his head curiously
"Y'know, cuz Mac 'n' Cheese is grain noodles floating in liquid cheese, and cereal is grain chunk-things floating in milk? Eh?"
"Analogy wasted." I commented blankly.
The rest of dinner was silent.

<LE MAGIC TIME SKIP WOO~>

"Alright! Time for bed!" Max clapped his hands.
"Max we are not children," Tim said, sticking his tongue out.
"Well you act like one. Anyway," Max put his hand on my shoulder. "You okay sleeping on the couch? You can always..." Max trailed off.
"What?"
"Nothing.."
"Okay.." I went into my 'room' and changed. Tim brought out some blankets and set them on the couch.
"Night buddy." Tim patted my shoulder before heading back to his room.
"Good night, Ross." Max said before quickly hurrying away.
"Night..?" I was confused, but it didn't really matter. I got the blankets ready and curled up.
But something didn't feel right...I shrugged it off and slowly fell into the dark grasp of sleep.
~~~~~~~
Nightmares. That's all that I could see for miles. Thousands of nightmares I've had in my life. I looked through them all. Some of them seemed a lot scarier as a kid. A shrill giggle cut me off.
"W-who's there?!" I called. No response.
"Why did you leave me?"
"Wait..what?!"
"Why did you never call my name?"
"W-who are you?"
"Why did you leave your poor sister behind?"
"Rose-"
I woke with a start. I had fallen off the couch.
"What time...is it.." I mumbled, rubbing my head.
I stumbled into the kitchen. The microwave clock read; 3:02 AM. I sighed. Maybe a nighttime walk would make me feel better. I grabbed a spare set of keys and scribbled a note in case anybody woke up before I was back.
I headed out. The cool night air felt nice on my face. I didn't really know where I was going, I probably should have thought that through.
I kept walking until I found myself in the 'bad' part of town. I didn't realize the danger I was on until somebody wrapped their hand around my mouth and knocked me out.
