Ami called five times before Shizuka heard a knock on her door. The brunette was still in bed, even though it was the afternoon. She had no motivation to get up or do anything. Erie wasn't there to make her breakfast. Erie wasn't there to cuddle her. Erie wasn't there to be hers anymore.
"Your door was unlocked!" Ami called.
Shizuka didn't care if someone came and killed her in her sleep. Because she didn't have Erie. And even though she hasn't known the teen that long, she's made an impact on her life.
Shizuka pulled the covers above her head and curled into a ball. Soft footsteps made their way into her room and stopped beside her bed. She didn't want to face Ami's questions, mainly because she didn't feel like it.
"I know you're not asleep. Get out of bed."
"Iie," Shizuka groaned.
The blanket was ripped away from her body, and she was staring up at her blonde friend.
"Shizuka, why aren't you up? What happened? I knew there was something wrong. Why didn't you tell me? Why did you lie to me?" Ami asked.
Shizuka turned away from her best friend. She couldn't tell her anything, because she would get fired and Erie wouldn't debut. And not having her debut would kill Shizuka, because she worked so hard from since she was young. Not counting the fact that Erie looked up to both Shizuka and Ami since she was young.
"I can't tell you," the brunette said.
"What do you mean? I may be the CEO of an entertainment business, but I'm still your best friend. Talk to me, Shi-chan."
"I really can't."
"Why not?"
Shizuka shook her head. "You'd change your thoughts about me..."
"What do you mean? I'm confused..." Ami's arms reached over Shizuka's body and turned her back so they would face each other. "Now talk to me."
Shizuka shook her head again. "I can't, Ami-chan! You just don't understand!"
She now sat up, looking up at her tall best friend.
"I've seen as much as you have, Shi-chan. Of course I'll understand. If you'll just talk to me instead of hiding. Hiding won't do you any good."
It was complicated for Shizuka. She trusted her best friend, and desperately wanted to tell somebody about her love life at the moment. Or how it's nonexistent. But, then again, Ami will fire her in a hot second because she broke the fourth rule. She's done it before, and Shizuka doesn't think being her friend would make her bend the rules just this one time.
"I'm sorry," Shizuka apologized before getting up and going to the bathroom, separating the two.
Great. Now her friendship with Ami would change because of one stupid girl.
But she loves that stupid girl. She misses that stupid girl. She wants that stupid girl.
Yet, she can't have her.
