I promise to never be my mother.
to always be sober in front of my children
and to set rules that didn't let them sneak away
I promise to never be my father.
to always make sure they know they are loved, and to be there for them
and to set rules that aren't so constricting that they'd have to sneak away
there has to be a balance
between nature
and nurture
my mom was too much nurture,
too much friendliness
never giving boundaries
but my dad was too much nature
too many rules
never giving affection.
