The Darkness That Keeps Us

First there was chaos

A murky, dark depth

That was all and still nothing

And I it kept.

Then the change came

And the sun born in light

Shined over existence

Spread its wings and took flight.

From it came earth

The sky and the sea

With animals and plants

Growing wild and free.

But Chaos remained

Chaos and me

In the briny dark shadows

As it will always be

Our black souls are linked

Eternally.
