Tears streamed down like waterfalls on the fourteen-year-old girl's face. She couldn't believe of the past events.
"Mum, Dad, I know this might be hard for you, and it's hard for me too."
"Say anything honey." Her mother said patting her daughter's knee, a encourging smile on her face. It made River's hopes go up more.
"Well I- I um- well-"
"Just say it dear." Her parent's smiles grew larger, stretching from ear to ear.
"Well I-I- I like girls." River felt as if a huge weight was lifted off her shoulders, it felt so good to actually say that out loud.
Her parents' smiles immediately fell off their faces, and were replaced with an unreadable expression.
Her mother glared at her.
"No."
River's smile left her face aswell. "What?" She said, even though she knew what. Her worst fears were confirmed, and tears welled up in her eyes.
"I said no. You don't like girls." Her mother said, looking at her daughter with a stern expression.
"Mum, I like girls. I've always like them I-"
"No, my daughter was not raised this way." Her father cut in, standing up. "Where did you learn this? Was it that Zola girl? I never liked her-"
"Dad, it was not Zola, I was born this way. There are other people-"
"NO! You chose to be this way. You will learn to like boys, you just have not found the right one yet! You will marry a man, just like women were intended too!"
"Mum, Dad please, you don't understand-" tears swere streaming down River's face now, she couldn't believe it. She had never seen her parents this angry before, and it scared her. Both of them towered over her now.
"MY DAUGHTER WILL NOT BE A FAG!" There it was. That word.
River let out the strangled sobs she was holding in. Her sadness was replaced with anger.
"WELL I GUESS I'M NOT YOUR DAUGHTER THEN!" She screamed so loud, that photos shook.
"Pack your things." Her mother whispered.
"What?" Anger was replaced with shock.
"I said pack your things." Her mother said a little louder.
"I don't understand-" But she did. River understood perfectly.
"Pack your things and get out! You're no longer welcome here until you get yourself fixed!"
"But-"
"Get out. Get out! GET OUT!" Her mother was running around the room now, taking pictures of River, her only child, and throwing them in the fireplace. River stared at the burning photos, she couldn't believe it. she was being disowned.
"GET! OUT!"
River ran up to what she once called her room, sobbing. She had got her things together, and ran out of the home, slamming the door behind her.
And that's how she ended up where she was now, on a park bench getting drenched in rain. She didn't know where she was going, but it still wasn't far enough. River was glad it was raining, glad to know that something else was just as sad as her, the cloud's tears matching hers.
"River, what the hell are you doing?"
River looked up at Zola.
"Hey Zola." She ignored her question, sniffling.
"What happened, talk to mama Zo."
"They kicked me out. I told them. And they kicked me out." It hurt to say that aloud. It hurt so much that she started sobbing once more, putting her face in her hands.
Zola didn't give her pity and sorrow, that's not what she needed right now. She needed pats on the back, soothing words, and a place to stay.
So Zola did exactly that, and walked her to her house, giving her the soothing words.
This was the most pain River had ever had before, but she didn't realize there would be a lot more for the years to come.

It physically hurt to put taylor swift in the chapter but the lyrics were fitting
I hurt a lot of people didn't I
well I'm glad to tell you
it gets worse
