I was back on the couch, flipping through the channels. My dad isn't home yet, and it's kind of weird that he isn't. He's usually home by now. It's ten at night, and I'm kind of worried. I sighed, getting frustrated that I can't find a show for me to watch.

"Dammit, where's the good shows?" I asked myself. Right after I said that, the phone started to ring. I looked at it. Then I got up and walked over to it. I grabbed it, and put it up to my ear. "Yes?" I asked in a frustrated manner.

"Nicole Bombay?" A man asked on the other end. I swallowed hard.

"Who's asking?" I asked.

"I'm Officer Humph. If your father Mr. Gordon Bombay?" He asked. My heart stopped for a second.

"Yeah, why? Is he okay?" I asked quickly.

"Calm down. Yes, he's okay. But we pulled him over for drinking and driving. Where are you now?" The officer asked.

"I'm at my house." I answered.

"How old are you?" He asked.

"Fourteen. Why are you asking me these questions?" I asked nervously.

"I'm sending a squad car out to your address to pick you up so you can see your dad. You're going to have to stay the night at someone else's house for tonight, since you're under the age of staying home overnight." The officer explained. I was still dumbstruck.

"Okay. Uh, I don't think any of my friends will take me in at this time, Officer." I said. There was a pause.

"Okay. You'll just have to stay here then. We have some beds here at the lockers." I rolled my eyes.
