Chapter 12

_______________

(Cameron's P.O.V.)

I sat on a picnic table waiting for Gracie. I bet she's just as confused as I am. But today I plan on changing that. We were so close for years, but we drifted apart. I started hanging out with the guys and I wasn't spending enough time with her. I regret that. I wish we could've stayed close. Even back then I had a crush on her. Everyone knew. They would bring it up all the time. I remember the day we were on a field trip in 6th grade. We went to a national park. We wernt all that close, but we were still good friends. I remember it completely.

I sat under the pavilion sitting on a picnic bench. There were a few teachers across from me. They were talking about there love life. I didn't want to listen. Looking over to my right I saw a small baseball game going on. I got up and started for the feild. As I got closer I saw Abbie, Amaya, Katelyn, Ryan, and Gracie. They were all playing terribly. I walked up laughing. I got to a bench and sat down observing how they played. It was interesting. Except they were really bad. I stood up and walked onto homeplate. I picked up my bat and stood ready to hit.

"Ryan! Pitch!" I yelled out. He just stood there. I noticed he didn't have the baseball.

"Someone?" I called out. Sure enough Gracie walked up. There wasn't a pitchers mount so she just stood a few yards away. She threw the ball up and caught it. Then looked at me. I put the bat up to my left shoulder, ready to swing. She threw it, but it ended up flying backwards. I laughed. They really were horrible. I shook my head and ran for the ball. We all ended up playing for a good ten minutes. When we got all the equipment together we started talking.

Gracie and Katelyn started talking about their celeberity crush. Kendall Schmidt from Big Time Rush. I hated when she talked about him. Gracie was always obsessing over him. Even when we hung out. I have to admit, I was slightly jealous.
Somehow our conversation took a turn when they started talking about who they liked. I just stayed out of their conversation for a bit. Everyone knew I liked Gracie except for Gracie herself. Or atleast I hoped that was
how it was. If she knew she would have told me something or acted different around me right. My thinking was disturbed by Gracie standing over me. Since I was on the ground I looked up at her.

"Come on. We have to go." She said. She had a smile forming on her face. I loved how she was naturally happy when she was around people she cared about. I groaned and covered my eyes from the sun. As happy as I was to be around her the sun beating right in my eyes was not so fun.

"Cameron. Let's go!" She repeated. I held my hands out. She slightly tilted her head as if she was confused by my actions.

"Help me up!" I declared. She put her hands on her hips and shook her head.

"Please???" I asked, still keeping my arms out. She smiled and nodded taking my hands. I smiled as she pulled me up. She stumbled backwards a little and chuckled. I was practically inches away from her face. I could almost lean in and kiss her right there. But I didn't.  I just pulled away from her and went over to the pavilion. Why I did that? I still don't know. But one thing is for sure. I wish I didn't.

I looked up and saw Gracie. She walked up to the table I was sitting on. She flashed a smile at me. Immediately I smiled back.

"Hey." She said. I stood up and walked over to her.

"Hi." I kissed her cheek. She smiled. I noticed her cheeks turning slightly more pink. I grabbed her hand and pulled her over to the swings. She smiled knowing what I wanted to do. She sat down on the swing. I walked behind her a pushed her gently. She giggled as I kept doing it. Everytime I heard her giggle I would think back to the feild. It always pushed a smile onto my face. I pushed her one last time then sat on the swing next to her. I watched as she swung up then back down repeatedly. Once she slowed down I looked into her drak brown eyes. She turned so she could see me. As soon as she noticed I was observing her she looked down. She was so shy all of the sudden.

"Hey.." I said. She looked up at me. "Don't look down. I can't see that adorable face If yours if you do." A soft smile appeared on her face. I smiled back at her. She spoke up softly,

"I have a question."

"What's that?" I looked into her eyes awaiting the question.

"Where do we stand?" I knew she would ask that. I was confused myself too, But I knew what we both wanted. I simply laughed underneath my breath. He face changed into a embarresed look.

I heard him laugh and immediately I felt embarresed. I knew he would laugh at me for asking. He simply thought of it as a joke. He didn't want to date me. He just was acting? I was confusing myself with these thoughts. I was kind of hurt when he just laughed at me.

His facial expression changed. It looked more serious then before.

"I was thinking the same thing not to long ago. But I have an idea." He said moving his swing closer to mine. I tilted my head slightly confused. Not slightly. Super confused. Not just by him. But my thoughts as well.

"Gracie. Will you..." His voice trailed off. He got off his swing and bent down on one knee.

"Hold on..I got this." He got down on his right knee. I bit my lip so I wouldn't laugh. Trying to stay serious. He cleared his throat.

"Gracie, Will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" He looked into my eyes. I smiled at him. Enjoying the moment.

"I would love to." I said in a cheesy British accent. I got of my swing. I bent down so we were the same height. He grabbed my face with his hands and kissed me. I kissed him back quickly then pulled away breaking into laughter. He soon joined in. I would remember that moment forever considering we were acting like dorks. I stood up and got back on the swing. Cameron stood up also and got on his swing. I smiled and looked at him. He inched his swing closer to mine just like before. I moved my swing closer to his as well. Apparently he didn't think I was close enough because he grabbed the chain on my swing and brought me closer. I laughed at the fact that my feet were completely off the ground. He leaned in and kissed me a bit more passionate. Then without warning he let go of my swing and sent me flying sideways. Left and right. I looked over to him and saw him smirking. My swing bumped into his everytime I went to the right. He grabbed my hand helping me stop from swinging crazily. I smiled and looked at him. He smiled back and looked into my eyes. His perfect brown eyes shined in the sun giving me a feeling of comfort.
