After Nathan finishes his journal entry, he lays on his bed, closes his eyes, and flashes back to that night. One month ago. On their first date. . . . . . .
"Mollie, are you sure?" Nathan asks her with slight concern.
"Yes. Absolutely. I want this more than you'd ever know." Mollie thought she wanted this 100%, or did she? She loved Nathan dearly, and she wasn't ready to die at any day or year. Mollie wasn't ready to lose Nathan.
"I don't know about this Mollie." Nathan began to respond to her, but he had no idea where his words were taking him. "I'm going to need some time to think about this."
"Nathan, don't you want me to be with you for the rest of eternal life?" Mollie was caught up in this moment, I don't think that she wanted this as much as she thought she did. Also, Mollie was clueless about what she was getting herself into. She would calm down eventually.
"Yes, Mollie, of course. This is just a lot for me to take in all at once. I just want some time for myself to gather my thoughts together." Nathan began to walk to his car, but Mollie was still in the same spot she had been in the entire time. Her notioned to her. "Mollie, are you coming?"
Something had happened to Mollie in those few minutes. She looked icy pale in the skin and her legs were dangerously trembling to death. Mollie's turquoise blue eyes were full of water. She was about ready to give in to gravity and collapse onto the damp grass. And when she did. . . .Nathan used his super speed and was right there to catch her. He softly set her on the tender ground. They made full-on eye contact with one another.
"I just don't want to lose you," Mollie knew that Nathan was all she really had. There were tears running down her cheeks at this point. "I-I love you."
"Mollie, you know I love just as much as you love me, but you're not going to lose me. I will protect you with my life, because I don't want to lose you either. I'm just not sure if I should make you like me just yet. Honestly, you're only 17 years old, which means we have years and years of time to be together." Nathan's in love with Mollie, but she shouldn't do this to herself right now, and even she knows it. "Let's just give it some time."
Mollie nodded, agreeing with him. She was still crying, but there was still a little tension between them. Nathan pressed his forehead against Mollie's, then an intriguing silence between them. "Mollie, everything will be okay, I promise."
They were still close, but then Nathan picked Mollie up off the grass, and then he carried her to his Buick. When Nathan pulled his car up Mollie's driveway, she had calmed herself by then. But before she got out of the convertible, she had a couple of things to tell Nathan. She slowly and casually moved her hand against his hand, which was on the car's control stick. When their fingers interlocked, it made Mollie just as happy as she was with Nathan earlier that night.
"I had a good time, although we fought." She smiled, hoping Nathan would return the favor. But instead of smiling, he leant in towards Mollie's face. Their lips locked against one another, with sparks flying around them. After about 15 seconds, Nathan pulled back and looked at her. "Goodnight, Mollie. See you tomorrow."
"Bye, Nathan. Tomorrow it is." Mollie opened the car door and stepped out of the Skylark convertible. . . . . . . .
