[After School]

Zay knocked on the door of Riley's apartment. Topanga opened to see Zay holding a container of soup. "Hi Mrs. Matthews. I brought Riley some soup." Zay smiled.

So did Topanga, "That's very sweet Zay. She's in her room, you can go in." They smiled again at each other and Zay went to Riley's room. He knocked on Riley's door.

"Riley...?"

"You came back..." Riley said with a smile.

"Of course I did, I promised you soup, so soup is what you're going to get!" Zay gave Riley the soup he brought her.

"Thank-You Zay! So how'd school go...?" Riley didn't really care about school, she wanted Zay to talk about Lucas, Farkle, Maya, and Smackle; she wanted to know about her friends even if she wasn't on speaking terms with some of them.

"The only class I payed attention to was history, everything else is boring..." Zay laughed. Riley smiled and tilted her to the right.

"What happened in history?" Riley asked.

"Your dad wasn't really trying to teach us about anything today, he just kind of explained what history is supposed to be about... He asked us what are our moments in history..." Zay smiled.

[Flashback — History Class]

The chalkboard had dozens upon dozens of smaller words around one huge word: HISTORY.

"Power, ambition, and idealism. Intrigue, deceit, and betrayal. Friendship, envy, vanity and revenge. All of these are pivotal and necessary goods and evils of history. You see history teaches us so much about ourselves without us realizing it..."

Smackle raised her hand. "Mr. Matthews, I have to confess-- I'm confused! I don't understand what the lesson is here..."

Cory laughed. "Well I'm not there yet. History has happened and there were people smart enough to look at it and document it for future generations - like us - because they knew we would learn something from it; that applies to our lives. Alexander Hamilton, the founding father on the ten dollar bill - his life, in his eyes, was not effective unless he was successful. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the U.S - his life can be related and have parallels to another great president. Which leads us to John F. Kennedy - the 35th president of the United States - he was an underdog in his election but he came out on top. My final example is all of you - Farkle...?"

Farkle looked up from his notebook, "Yes sir?"

"Relate something in history to your life right now..." Cory smiled.

"Shakespeare's play Romeo & Juliet..." Farkle smiled while looking at Smackle.

"Explain please..." Cory asked

"Not completely but the story of Romeo and Juliet is the story of two teens who are supposed to be enemies but instead fall for each other. I relate this to Smackle and I; science tells us that like forces repel and aren't supposed to get along but I think for the first time, science is wrong." Smackle began to blush and smile.

"Very good Farkle... Smackle?"

"Helen Keller... She overcame her disability and taught others how to too. While our disabilities aren't exactly the same, the fact that we both try to look past it to help others and ourselves is something I can relate to." Smackle smiled.

"Wonderful... Mr. Friar?"

Lucas wasn't paying attention he just stared at Maya's empty seat. Cory called Lucas' name a couple more times until Farkle poked his arm and Lucas snapped out of it.

"What?"

"Can you pick a moment in history and relate it to your life right now?"

"Anytime when the guy fell in love and turned up dead..."

"Mr. Friar, are you alright?"

Lucas looked at Maya and Riley's empty seats one more time before he stood up and walked out of class. Zay sat twiddling his thumbs.

"Mr. Babineaux...?"

"Yes Sir?"

Cory was shocked that Zay didn't go after Lucas.

"Umm, what's your moment in history?"

Zay thought back to earlier that morning in Riley's room. Her head on his shoulder, then somehow them staring into each other's and beginning to lean in when Riley's mom walked in and he jumped up.

"Cyrano..." Zay smiled and stood up and went after Lucas.
