Gray left the meeting hall as soon as the chance arose. He had to tell Rowan about how everything went! He rounded the corner and nearly tripped over Principal Brown who was next to a lab robot.
"Principal Brown!" Gray exclaimed.
"I warned you, Gray," Principal Brown responded as he stood. "I told you not to get involved with that girl and now look at what you've done! This school is out of control all because you had to go and be fooled by that girl's lies! Of course, I was hoping that accidents would fix everything."
"I knew it was you as soon as I found your pin in the control box!"
"Well good for you Mr. Problem Solver. Here's a new problem for you to solve!"
The lab robot was suddenly awake, shouting "Kill, kill, kill!" in its mechanical voice. Gray took off running, his heart racing, air pumping rapidly in and out of his lungs, adrenaline crackling through his veins like lightning. To where he was going, he did not know, but what he did know was that a raging robot was right on his heels. All he could hear was the malicious, mechanical laughs of the robot as well as the principal, both close behind him. His ears screamed from the dissonant chord those laughs formed as he turned left at this hallway, flew through this corridor, down these steps. He made a sudden jolting turn into the principal's office and shut the door, hoping to keep the robot out for at least a moment. As soon as Gray hid behind the desk, the door flew open. He could hear the principal panting as the robot moved to the middle of the room. Gray, heart pounding, seized the opportunity and pounced out from behind the desk, kicking the robot square in the control box. Despite this, the robot grabbed Gray's foot, lifted him up, and threw him with so much force that it knocked all of the drawers in the principal's desk out of their runners. Pins were scattered across the floor. Gray picked up two and as the robot came in for the final attack, he stuck one in the eye and the other in a red wire that hung from the tattered control box.
The robot stopped its attack immediately and stood, frozen. Gray stood and shoved the robot so that it landed at the principal's feet.
"It's over Principal Brown," Gray said as he tried to slow his breathing. Then, just as soon as the robot stopped, it self-destructed without any warning.
Gray felt himself fly into the wall and opened his eyes a few seconds after he landed on the floor with a soft thud. He looked around at the damaged room and saw small pieces of the robot scattered about and simmering. His eyes landed on the limp, burnt body of Principal Brown. Dr. Simon was sure to be here soon; everyone probably heard the explosion. But right now, since he could stand and walk normally, Gray went to go see Rowan.
