Kakashi was staring at the contents of his book, his strong back was up against a large tree in the branches, right outside the outskirts of Konoha's forest. A light blush started to stain his cheeks as he read a more intimate scene. His silver grey hair hung over his serene face, a leaf shinobi band covering the last memory of the person who changed his life like no one ever has. There was once a girl.... But she was the one that got away. He sighed as he tucked the finished book into his back pocket.

The young man jumped down from the branches and heard some desperate rustling a little further on. His heart beat started to pick up the pace as his tired eye darted around the dark and empty forest. He couldn't imagine someone else from the Leaf that would be out here at this time, he had thought to himself whilst heading towards the sound.

The soft rays of the setting sun gleamed through the thin leaves leaving Kakashi in the light. The thud of his heart echoed in his head as he stepped cautiously closer to the darkness. One last crackle and a loud grunt was heard, a dark shadow whizzed away from what it seemed as a limp body. In one swift movement Kakashi lifted his hand, moving the shinobi band which then revealed his sharingan. He saw the abandoned person's chakra lightly pulsing and almost fading away. Whoever it was, didn't have much time left.

He took no chances and ran towards the body, sensing a familiar presence of déjà vu. The body was one of a woman's, she looked as though she had been starved for months. He went onto his knees an examined the large gashes on her back, dark blood was seeping endlessly through her light tunic. The cold wet dirt stained his knees as he increased the pressure there. He continued to examine the situation. Bruises were present on her legs, mainly the knees, perhaps from long periods of stress on them, he observed more signs of sickly torture as he turned the fragile girl over. Her thin wrists were bruised and tainted a deep red from rope, as were her ankles. His gaze then lingered on her face.

A forgotten pain struck his heart almost as if someone sent a kunai through it, his emotion was pouring through his eyes, and his face scrunching in fear and sadness. It was as if everything around him stopped, the leaves stopped swaying in the wind, the animals stopped scattering through the forest floor and all his focus was onto this girl. His ears rung and his head ached.

"Hayami..?" He finally choked, his eyes that were full of pain and emotions streamed with rare tears. Her beautiful ebony hair that cascaded down her perfectly refined features was no other than Hayami's. He lifted a hand to cup her cheek as his vision became blurry. His tears dropped onto her pale face, they rolled across her hollow cheeks and down into the dirt leaving dark droplets. The one girl who has been haunting him for months, the one that got away. Images flurried through his mind as memories of this girl came back to him, the memories he tried so hard to forget after the news he received.

"She's gone Kakashi, you can't keep looking for her." Lady Tsunade sighed with guilt written all over her tired face, "It's been 6 months now with no positive results. I'm sorry Kakashi but it's time to let go." My heart stung as she said those words. I could imagine that she'd do the same as me if it were Dan who was missing, but I decided to keep my mouth shut.
I guess it is time to move on. Guilt filled my heart as I nodded to Tsunade.
"Hai."
