I woke up with a large wet thing running across my face.

"Gah!" I jumped up and swatted my hands to push whatever was in front of me away. "Uh gross."

My face was covered in gooey spit that strung out when my hand left my face. In front of me stood a cow.

"What? How did you get in here?" I said astonished. I was sure that the door was shut, but there it stood, wide open. I used my jacket sleeve and wiped off my face and got up with my backpack. As soon I moved, the cow mooed and its smelly breath hit me like a wall.

I coughed, muttering, "I didn't need to smell that." I walked around the cow and went outside. It looked like it was about eight in the morning with the sun getting hotter with every passing minute. There were a bunch of cows scattered around, graizing and standing about.

I continued walking down to a road about twenty yards away. Every step I made I carefully made sure I didn't step into any surprises. There was a wooden fence lining the road that was roughly the same height of a cow and was falling apart in some places. As I got near it, I jogged to jump and push myself over it with one hand instead of climbing though or over the fence. However once my hand hit the wood and my weight was put onto it, the wooden beam softly snapped and I fell straight to the ground.

"Oh wonderful." I cursed, pulling myself away from the fence and onto the road. Sitting up, I began brushing off my pants when I noticed I had scratched my hand.

"Shoot!" I put my mouth over the small cut to keep any blood from getting on my clothes and went to get into my bag for a band aid. Then I realized I forgot a first aid kit.

"You have got to be kidding me." I got up and began pacing the street. I couldn't believe I forgot something so important! Yeah I can heal myself, but there's only so much I can do and I'm not wasting energy on a two inch scrape that has stopped bleeding already.

I sighed, decided to head to a convenient store to purchase some first aid supplies and get some breakfast because my stomach was gnawing away at itself.

"Is that all?" the girl behind the counter asked me, snapping her gum and tapping her nails.

I took another look at what I had in front of me: a standard first aid kit, a few Ace bandages, a couple packs of mints and gum, and a raspberry muffin.

"Yes." I nodded.

"Okay, your total will be thirty two dollars and ninety six cents." the girl replied, almost monotone.

I reached into my shirt and pulled out the neck bag and got the money out from my wallet. I handed it to her and the lady snapped her gum and snatched the money from my hand. She quickly put the money into the register and handed me my bag.

"Have a good day." she sighed, rolling her eyes. I assumed she has been here all night since she was so grouchy and by the heavy bags under her eyes.

I smiled. "Thanks, you too."

She rolled her eyes again and snorted. I gave her a weird look and left.

"She wasn't very pleasant." I said quietly to myself sitting down on the bench outside the door and put away my purchases, but kept out the muffin. The muffin was the size of a softball with lots of raspberries baked in it, dying most of the pastry a pinkish red. I ate it silently and quickly, easing my rumbling stomach.

When I finished, I wiped my mouth a threw away my trash and thought about where I would go next. I knew I wanted to get the city, but from there I wasn't too sure. I looked around and noticed a visitors stand next to the convenient store. I walked over and found maps. Grinning for a reason I wasn't too sure of, I grabbed the New York City map and the North Eastern United States map and tucked them both into my jacket.
