Charlotte
______________They sat at a table on the corner. Scott ordered two beers and his eyes here fixed on a big flat screen that had a football game on. Charlotte started telling him a story and he kept nodding and smiling, but his eyes never left the screen.
Charlotte reached across the table to hold his hand and smiled at him trying to make eye contact. He looked down at her and pulled his hand away.
"Charlotte, I know what you're trying to do... I really like Lena and I am going to work it out with her..."
"That's fine! I'm sure you will!" She faked a smile - "She was really upset, though. She might not come around for a while and you deserve to be happy!"
Scott shrugged thinking Charlotte did have a point. Even I'd he couldn't shake Lena off his head.
They had a bunch of beers and when he was noticeably drunk, Charlotte convinced him of taking a couple of selfies with her.
A band was playing that night and Scott felt confused when the lead singer waved at him. He looked familiar, but Scott couldn't place him. Until he saw Harriet sitting alone at a table.
He finally recognized Luke and waved at him with a smile. All the memories of his "not a date" started coming back. He missed Lena a lot.
"Maybe Harriet will know what to do." He thought.
"Be right back! I need to pee!" He said to Charlotte, but instead he signaled Harriet to meet him outside.
Charlotte nodded and smiled waiting at the table for him.
He lit up a cigarette waiting for Harriet.
When she came out she asked him how things were going with Lena. He told her about their fight and how Lena wouldn't even talk to him. Harriet explained to him that he needed to give her some room to breathe and calm down.
"Lena's a proud girl. She won't give in easily, but she will eventually. Just give her some time!"
She knew Lena would eventually come around and everything would go their way.
"I do have to admit: Going on a date with Charlotte isn't going to help..."
Scott whined like a toddler - "We're not on a date! She just offered to buy me a drink and I was so pissed I said yes."
"Does she know that?" She asked.
"Uh, I told her!"
"Charlotte can be a little manipulative, Scotty. You need to be pretty straightforward with her!"
"Why do girls always think other girls are looking to start trouble? She's just a friend keeping me company when I'm not feeling well."
"Make sure SHE knows it. And Lena too!"
"What do I do about Lena?" He frowned feeling sad.
"Show her she means more that a fake date, you jackass!" She slapped the back of his head trying to slap some sense into his head.
Apparently it worked.
"Ask her on a real date?" Scott said putting his drunken ideas together.
"That might be a good start!" Harriet smiled

Lena slammed the door when she got home and threw her bag and keys on the table so hard she almost hit her cat.
She went straight to the fridge and opened a beer that she drank down in 3 big chugs without even shutting the fridge's door. She opened another one and sat in front of the TV zapping channels. She zapped from one chick flick to the other trying not to think about him.
Her phone bleeped. Several times. She picked it up and saw Scott had been texting her pictures of him and Charlotte at a bar. She was fuming!
Lena couldn't help texting him back.
Lena: Fuck you, Scott! Don't ever text me again!
Charlotte smiled seeing Lena's response, deleted the pictures on Scott's phone and put it back on the table where he left it before excusing himself off to the man's room.
