Lena

____________

On the way home, Scott could still feel a little tingle on his lips. Kissing Lena was nothing he had planned, but it felt so right he hadn't even stopped to think about Harriet anymore.

He was to tired that he went straight to bed without even changing out of his clothes. He texted Marcus to pick up the keys on his way to the café so he could open for him. He slept through the whole morning with a huge smile plastered on his face.

Around 3pm he woke up with a horrible headache. He tumbled his way to the kitchen to take some aspirin and sip coffee. His memory was a little fuzzy, but he remembered kissing Lena's soft lips perfectly. No feeling of guilt, no regrets. No Harriet. All he could think of was Lena's sun lit face smiling at him. Her head leaning on his shoulder, his arm wrapped around her.

He brushed his teeth trying to leave his hangover behind. He had to show up at the café at some point. So he showered and dressed as usual, got in his car and headed off to the café.

-------------------------------------------------------

When Harriet went in to the shop for lunch. She didn't find Scott - "He's always here at lunchtime" she thought to herself. She sat down and watched Lena serving coffee to an elderly couple, slightly more cheerful than usual.

She ordered her usual lunch and got back to her sketchbook. One of the waiters soon arrived with her food. She took a single look at it and called him back.

"Uh, I'm a vegan.." Staring at the piece of ham and bacon they had put in her sandwich.

"I'm sorry to hear that. Let me change that for you" he took the plate and headed to the kitchen.

She got back to her sketchbook frowning. They never had gotten her orders wrong before. She felt a little better when Lena passed her table. She signalled her to come closer. Lena sat at her table and they immediately started gossiping about what they did after the pub.

"Scott stayed over last night..."

Harriet choked - "No wasting time, huh?"

"No! Not like that!" Lena snorted when she laughed - "He drove me home and I brought some beers out to the porch. We just talked for hours. It was nice."

"Oh my... You so kissed him!" Harriet's eyes widened in shock as Lena blushed - "no denying it!"

"He's a very sweet guy" Lena said so low it was almost a whisper.

Scott came rushing into he shop with big dark circles around his eyes. He waved at Lena smiling, but his smile faded when he saw Harriet was sitting next to her.

His palms were suddenly sweaty again. He dashed to hide in the kitchen while he gathered his thoughts, but not before Lena noticed. She excused herself and ran after him.

"Wtf?!" she snapped when she saw him hiding in the freezer.

"Lena! Didn't see you there!"

"Cut it out, Scotty... Oh... Right... Harriet's here..." She mumbled - "Never mind!"

"Lena..." He grabbed her by her wrist trying to explain to both her and himself why he was acting weird.

"I get it, Scotty. You saw her, you're sober now and I gotta turn back into a pumpkin" she pulled away and walked out. Harriet saw her on the way out sniffling and wiping a tear off her cheek.

"Whoa, Lena! Wait up!"

She followed Lena out through the shop's back door. Lena litbup a cigarette and Harriet followed lighting up one for herself.

"Wanna talk about it?" Lena shook her head no.

"Ok... Want me to punch him in the face?"

"More like kick his groin..." She snorted taking a drag of her cigarette.

"He said he was drunk and doesn't remember, huh?"

"No... It's not exactly like that... He... Likes somebody else, though"

"Bastard..." Harriet's fists tightened.

Scott barged in and saw Harriet.

"C-could, could we maybe have a m-m-minute alone?" He stuttered a little. He shoves his hands in his pockets to hide his nervousness.

"Sure" Harriet excused herself and took half a step towards the door.

"I meant you, Lena" he cut her short - "I need to talk to Harriet"

Their jaws fell open. Lena hesitated but she left threw her cigarette out and walked in.

"You have some nerve! She likes you since forever, you finally ask her out and kiss her and now you ignore her?!" She said all way too fast.

"I only asked her out because YOU asked me to..." He shouted - "We got to talking and I couldn't help it! It was like I had been wanting to kiss her my whole life!"

Harriet smiled a little - "Why does she think you're ignoring her then?"

"Because she knows I had feelings for you for a long time..."

Harriet was speechless.

"She knows I begged her to out with me so I could try and push Luke aside. Neither of us expected to like each other." Scott was thinking out loud. "Truth be told, she's all I can think about today... No offense!"
