AN: So... It's kind of... I don't know... silly I guess. It's not that good, it's a little weird... Please tell me what you think and if i need to fix anything. Thank you!! :)

I want nothing more than to escape this jail, to fade away,

To hide from the world and pretend it’s not real.

I sit in this glass cage and wait for someone to choose me.

Deep down I know it may never happen. Every other pet will go,

But not me, nobody wants a black, timid dog.

I don’t know what I do wrong, I’m just being me.

When people pass by, they will look, but only for a few seconds.

So, I just don’t bother getting up any more, I just lift my head.

That all changed the day Libby came by.

She stopped right in front of the glass and her face lit up.

I lifted my head and looked right in her eyes.

I got up I walked to the front of the glass and sat down,

I started to wag my tail and tried to look my best.

She turned to her mom and said “Mom, I want this dog,”

Her mom said simply “Libby, let’s keep looking.” and walked away.

Libby stood there for a few more seconds, then blew me a kiss and walked on.

That’s when it went right back to the same thing, my heart couldn’t take it anymore.

I got up and turned around to face the wall, tail tucked between my legs.

Why do people not want me? What do I need to do different?

I’m a good dog, I’m a fast learner, and I’m good with kids and cats too. I just don’t get it,

There was a light tap on the glass and I turned my head.

Libby was standing there smiling at me. She knelt down as I walked to her.

She put her hand on the glass and I lifted my nose to her hand.

It was an instant connection; I knew both of us felt it.

The door opened behind me, there was a hand and leash coming towards me

I shied away from the man. The leash slipped around my neck and he pulled me out.

We walked through a door and Libby was standing there waiting.

I ran up to her and licked her face; she giggled and scratched my ears.

I looked into her eyes and she looked into mine. She smiled at me and I smiled at her.

She nearly fell over laughing; I attacked her face with kisses.

Her mom was standing in the background smiling; I shyly went over and nudged her hand.

Her smile grew and she knelt down to try to give me a kiss, but I beat her to it.

With that, Libby and her mom took me to my new forever home!
